Hi everyone,
Sid (and I) had a very rough night last night. He did not want to eat so I had to feed him through his feeding tube so I luckily didn't have trouble getting food into him. I also gave him some famotidine (pepcid) because he kept licking his lips and his stomach made a lot of gurgling noises. I did not have any cerenia or ondensetran. Throughout the night he just laid in a box and didn't really move, staring off into space. So of course I think we're at the end. Around 11 pm I gave him some buprenex and laid him on a heat pad. In addition, his bg is dropping like crazy. he dropped about 300 points at +3. So when he dropped from 105 to 46 in 1 hour, I gave him some karo syrup in his mouth and 30 mls of food in his feeding tube. That brought his level back up. When I went to bed, he was around 80.
Of course I never know what I'm going to find when I wake up, but this morning Sid was the perkiest I've seen him in awhile. He ate 1/2 can of food all on his own! Of course he was feeling so energetic that I'm pretty sure he got a fur shot because he jumped away from me. I dropped him off at the vet for monitoring and he was HI at every check so at noon they gave him a unit of R. That brought him down. Tonight it looks like we are headed in the same direction as last night based on how he is acting... We're hanging in there. While at the vet, they changed the bandage on his feeding tube and gave him a heart
