i'm still confused about when i can/should use R when punkin is in a bounce . . . is there an R user that wants to educate me better on this? i need some specific guidelines - can i use it on the first day of the bounce only? what about tonight - we are on day 4 of high numbers and i really want to get them down. should i go back up on the Lantus and call it a failed reduction - but he got in the 40's 5 days ago . . . . do i just need to wait longer?

he's feisty as can be with these high numbers. we've had lots of kitty wrestling, he's acting like he's starving (more than usual) and well, he's not his normal charming self.

almost time for the evening shot and i thought i'd ask about the R now. crazy day and it's the first chance i've had to get on the computer.

Re: 2/9 punkin amps 408 +6/371 R?

Obviously I can't help with the dosing advice but I did want to thank you for posting the link to how to handle lantus in the newbies condo the other day (can't remember whose it was). I thought I would have another look to consolidate my knowledge and realised I was still doing it wrong :-x I have been injecting air into my cartridge as it it were a vial, mumble grumble. Never mind that's another mistake over and done with now. Also I picked up on the syringe accuracy discussion and what to look out for there so further improvements will be made in my treatment of Vyktor. Thank you Julie.

Hope punkin gets back on track for you soon.

One thought I just had - when he got down to the 40s was that with the help of R? If so perhaps that does not constitute a lantus dose reduction???

Re: 2/9 punkin amps 408 +6/371 R?

I will check your condo tomorrow to see what advice experienced users give you. Weezer usually clears bounces quickly, so I wouldn't give her R except during the first cycle of a bounce. But it's really hard to see him so high for days. Good luck. :YMHUG:

ok, i re-looked at his ss and saw that 78 night before last. so i guess we've got 2 consecutive bounces. i won't give him R tonight because now we're at 48 hours after that 78. perhaps he's working on clearing it now.

but in general, should i only give the R with the first cycle?

yes, it's really hard to see him so high. plus he's almost aggressive in his behavior when he's so high. not his usual charming lethargic self!

serryn, the early low numbers weren't using R, not unless it lasted much longer than it's supposed to.

Ouch, those numbers are painful. No advice from me but I do have a ton of sympathy. (((Julie))) Come on down, punkin!

Re: 2/9 punkin amps 408 +6/371 pmps 393

looks like you answered your own question. ;-)

It looks like Punkin is clearing bounces fairly quickly (3-4 cycles), so I would be wary of giving any R in the 3rd cycle of a bounce. 2nd cycle maybe (or maybe try a smaller amount of R in the 2nd cycle to try to hold him flat rather than trying to drop the #).

No advice just hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I hear you on how hard it is to sit through the bounces. :YMSIGH:

Re: 2/9 punkin amps 408 +6/371 pmps 393

I agree with Libby about the timing/dose to try for bounces.
Sometimes (most times maybe) shooting R can feel like trying to shoot a moving target.
It can be difficult , in the face of all the variables du jour, to know exactly when and how much to add to the mixture.
you'll get a better feel for it all with time .

Re: 2/9 punkin amps 408 +6/371 pmps 393

Hi jkulie - no R advice here either, just a big HI! and a :come on down: for Punkin. it never is fun to wait out the bounces...

oh look. just when the panic rises, he starts to drop. ohmygod_smile i guess it's because he's always been such a flat kitty, or else i have simply been deluded by the freestyle meter . . . but i've never thought of him as bouncy and of course, i've seldom seen high numbers for more than one here and there until we switched meters.

i'm tipping my hat to all of you who have daily bouncing kitters.

so in 3 hours he's dropped nearly 200 points. i gave him an extra 1/2 can of food along with his normal 1/2 can of food at +3. that made him happy! hope that will flatten him out so he stops dropping so fast. i'm going to give him another 1/2 can probably in an hour to keep the bottom numbers up.

bumpernickel

Vyktor did decide he wanted to keep hanging out with punkin, we're down on the yellow floor too  but I think that's as far as we're going to get this cycle, looks like punkin's had enough of him and might be making a break for the blue floor
