Yesterday's Condo
What a crazy day yesterday turned out to be!!!! Here I thought I would have a quiet day, office day, computer funday and then.....Lucille Ball visited my kitchen!!!!
I went to water my plants in the kitchen sink and ended up with a major kitchen faucet flood! ohmygod_smile So I thought...time to replace the Moen Cartridge. Took the faucet apart and could not get the cartridge out, called my super nice single neighbor guy and he came over to lend some muscle. He pulled so hard that the sink unstuck from the counter top ohmygod_smile . What good is a "lifetime" warrenty" if you can't fix it! A trip to Lowes was not in order. So a stop at Lowes and the purchase of the Moen core puller (less than $15), some kitchen caulk, and I bought a new faucet...just in case we could not fix mine. So, with the use of the core puller I was able to remove the cartridge and install the new cartridge. But...when I went to turn on the water the faucet was better, but still leaking  . About that time my nice single neighbor guy called to check on how things were going and he stopped back over to inspect my work. The only thing we could figure out was it was the old "O" rings, but no matter where we looked for instructions on how to replace those, we could not find them or see how we could even get to them. A quick call to Moen, who is headquarted right here in the area, would only get me $50 voucher towards a new faucet! Age, time and not orginal owner played into that disappointing result. With that as the answer, I opted to just install the new faucet. I think my single guy neighbor was over eager to get under my sink  . He was out the door and back with his toolset lickety split! An hour later I have a new faucet installed and the old Moen boxed up to be sent back to Moen with an unhappy consumer letter.
So.... I think next Saturday I'll invite my single neighbor guy over for dinner as a Thank You. Cornish Hen sound good?
PS. Oh yes, somewhere in here Atlas was having a low running day and still being big, fluffy cat friendly. Single neighbor guy was 'warmed over' by Attie's big smile and purrs. Yes, he said Attie looked like he was smiling.
As I told my single neighbor guy I am of the opinion when simple home maintenance, becomes an unplanned project I just don't have the patience for such nonsense. But, we had a good time replacing the faucet. Had a few laughs and even broke one of the Moen tools on the install.
