DC's numbers are coming down again.
I'm liking the blue PS numbers much better.
He's feeling good and eating well.
All P's are in place.
I finally got a copy of DC's blood work from Feb 29th.
Everything is normal except for 3 things.
I'm wondering if anyone knows what it means?
All the vet would tell me is they don't go by those values and she doesn't know what they mean.
1. Glucose = 16.45 mmol (296) That was the exact number I got when I tested his BG just before she ran the blood work.
2. HCO3 = 19.40 mmol is LOW normal is 22 - 24
3. ICO2 = 20.50 mmol is LOW normal is 27 - 31
All I could find is that HCO3 is a blood gas and ICO2 is an anion gap, but I can't figure out what it means or if I should be concerned about it.

Re: 3/7 DC AMPS=137 Blood work question

I bet someone will weigh in with input presently...
if not, you might consider cross posting on Health?

nice amps!

I never even thought of that. Thanks.

Re: 3/7 DC AMPS=137 Blood work question

HCO3
ICO2

They are parameters for if the blood is acidic. It is however more complicated than that but the limit to my English limits me from explaining in depth how it all functions.

Re: 3/7 DC AMPS=137 +2=103 +4=108 Blood work question

HCO3 is bicarbonate. Anion gap and bicarbonate effect the acid/base level or pH of the blood. I'd have to do more research on this but I know that the values are off with renal problems. If any of the kidney values on the blood work were OK, I wouldn't worry too much, especially if DC was stressed at the vet.

The vet said all his organs were functioning good.
All the other values on the blood work were normal. His pH is normal too.
Those were the only ones that were off.
