Rupert looks okay. Had quite a bit of raw steak, eating EVO/Friskies now, not a lot though, not keen on the stuff, may switch back to Merrick SurnNturf 3% carb when the Evo runs out.

darn forgot to put the lysine in, will do so at +2 feeding.

edited to add that I have given him 2u today. (put 1.75 originally in SS but that was at the equivalent of 5am and my brain was SO not working) Previously he was getting a very guessed at f1.5 which probably equated closer to a 1.75 (no half unit syringes).. so in the interests of trying to keep things totally 'even' I'm going with the solid 2 so that I don't second guess myself as to whether it was slightly less/more each time. essentially, we've done just a 'smidge' over .25 increase. Please don't yell at me. if I can find syringes with half units life will be a lot easier, I just want to make this next cycle dead on precise.

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451

You guys are really having a hard time. At least Rupert is lower this morning. I'm glad you are getting a new vet on the case. I hope that fresh eyes will see the problems and solutions and get Rupert on track. Hang in there. You are doing great.

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388

nice to see a little pink at +2.5 and a slow downward path. hopefully +5/6 will show nice number too.

WCR: purry, sleek, active this morning. vocal. not overly enthusiastic about food but had about 2 tablespoons of SurfnTurf (3%) at +2.5.

we are off to get 65 bales of hay now.

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388

nice to see some action on his BG at +2.5 - i know we'll all breathe a sigh of relief to see him down in better numbers!

let's see if some other Canadians can suggest where you can order 1/2 unit syringes - there have to be some out there!

have fun with the hay bales! sounds like a ton of work.

Hi Pip and Rupert! I've never stopped by Rupert's condo before but Julie stopped by and mentioned that you're having a hard time finding 1/2 unit syringes on Vancouver Island. I live in Saskatoon and use the BD 31 gauge short syringes they come with 1/2 unit markings. I usually pick them up at Shoppers, but i have picked them up at Walmart and Costco before as well. http://www.bd.com/ca/diabetes/english/page.aspx?cat=14502&id=14907 This is the syringe i use. Do you live near any of these stores? I'm sure places like Victoria or Nanaimo would be big enough cities to have Costco's and Walmart.

Good luck with your syringe search, i hope you find some. Let me know how you make out.

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388

My local shoppers doesn't carry them, neither does Walmart in Victoria (and it's a Super Walmart!). I asked if they (shoppers) would order them in and they stared at me blankly. sigh. I'd really like to get 12mm vs 8mm length which seems really really even MORE difficult to find. right now I"m using the BD's, 29g, 12mm length.thanx for the info though. I'll keep searching. everywhere we go and I see a pharmacy I zip in and check!

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388

Hi Pip. I'm glad to see Rupert coming down this morning. I also hate those middle of the line, doses, even with the half unit marked syringes.
When I started this a couple years ago, my Walmart also didn't have the half unit. I usually order online, 'cause I don't like the syringes from my local pharmacy.
Hope Rupert gives you some nice numbers today. :-D

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388

Rupert, you are definitely moving in the right direction this morning. Keep it up! Have you ever tried Fortiflora with Rupert? It's a nutritional supplement in powder form that apparently mimics the dry food flavor that some cats love. We sprinkle a little bit on top of the food. Zener likes it but our civie Tillie thinks it's disgusting. It helps Zener to eat when he otherwise might not. 65 bales, that will be a good workout.

Ok i've been looking around online for you and Rupert and found this :

http://www.diabetesshop.ca/prodlist...biBEZWxpdmVyeSBEZXZpY2Vz&pcat=Syringes&show=1

http://www.diabetesexpress.ca/product_info.php/cPath/41/products_id/513

I'm not too sure if the second website is the proper syringe, but i'm sure if you sent them an email or give them a phone call they could confirm it for you. Looks like both websites are almost $10 cheaper than buying them at Shoppers, Walmart or Costco. I might have to start ordering from one of these websites!!

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388,+5.5, 444

thanx Tracy, both of those are 1 unit measures, not half. not that I could see anyway.

Re: 3/11 Rupert AMPS 451,+2.5, 388,+5.5, 444, PMPS 419

PMPS 419. on the upside, he's had a very stable day. eating his dinner, with his lysine. I'm hoping this suggests that his shed super empty over the past few days and is having a hard time refilling. At least he isn't bouncing. I suspect he'll come down a little tonight.. I sure hope so. Tomorrow I call the 'new and improved' vet. Hoping we can get him in for dental investigation. He is having no trouble chewing/eating though and doesn't appear to be in pain, but it could be a low grade infection just hanging in there. fingers crossed.
