AMPS 334

Der's my big pink toad back today. I poked a bit more juice in this morning almost to 2.5. I imagine he did do a blue toe dip last night but might have only made it to yellow. I heard him eating off and on all night but couldn't make myself get up to test. His hair says his numbers are high, it's oily and so yucky looking. He's about to get a bath over the next few days. He doesn't mind them as long as I keep warm water running over him most of the time.

Update on Samson - it's not constipation, it's his severely damaged hips pressing against something making him feel like he needs to go. He still doesn't want to eat - I syringe fed him about 1/2 cup chicken and broth a bit ago. He didn't pull away and swallowed each bite but I couldn't coax him to try a bite himself.

Samson became OUR dog at 1:30 this morning when a neighbor came down to get MeanBean as Samson had wandered into their garage and wouldn't leave. MeanBean said 'just shoot him', slammed the door and went back to bed. They then came over to us, we went down and DH carried him back while I tried to keep DH on his feet carrying a 50 lb dog. He's now in OUR backyard where we can keep an eye on him all the time thru our french doors and sunroom. We're taking him to vet tomorrow morning - DH says to either 'fix' him or help him cross. I saw the xrays, there IS no 'fixing' that hip...it was only a matter of time anyway. We'll love him over....

Thoughts and prayers for all needing them today and for each of you that visit today. That means SO much to me - I thank each of you again.

BIG HUGE HUG,

I hate meanbean  Too bad he couldn't be outlawed from keeping animals.

I'm glad you got Samson and will love him over. (((((Hugs))))))) You are an angel, you know.

Oh wow. Samson's story made me get all teary-eyed. You and your DH are wonderful people with kind hearts. cat_pet_icon

Hugs to you!!

Believe me, I hate the MeanBeans too and I have to live across the road from them!!! No they should NEVER have ANY animal..but they do. We have 5 of their animals that are either buried in OUR Angel Garden or we've had to take in and help cross because they refused to do anything at all. Spike and Boots (in our profile) both were originally theirs - Spike finally just moved over here and I took Boots when I found her outside in an icy snowstorm with her mouth frozen shut and almost dead.

Altho' I appreciate the thought, no I'm not an Angel, I'm just one human trying to take care of the things in one little corner of the world. I feel blessed that I CAN....

Samson's story is so heartbreaking but I'm glad you are going to be with him if the vet says there is nothing else to do. I love your words "love him across". How beautiful. Your neighbors should never have animals and all their animals that you have helped or adopted prove that they are unfit. If they get any other animals, is there a way to report them to ASPCA?

Now KT, get off that pink floor right now!

It is terrible and sad to read about Samson and the others you've taken in because of neglect and abuse. Thank you for the care you provide, Lyresa. :YMHUG:

I'm so sorry about Samson, you and your DH will do what is best for him. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I don't know that the ASPCA could do anything other than take Samson away and you've already done that. I'd report him to the police. Aren't there anti-cruelty laws? Maybe a hefty fine would be the kick in the head he so richly deserves!

I know some shelters do background checks. Is there a way to get him on a "no-adoption" list?

Lyresa and DH, we will be with you tomorrow in thought when you go with Samson to the vet. He knows that you love him and that you will not let him be abused any more. How very sad his story is.

I don't know the situation in Oklahoma, but in New York the ASPCA has an enforcement arm and will remove an animal from a household if they learn (most often from a neighbor) that he is being abused. They also are able to pursue criminal penalties against abusers.

You and Samson are in our thoughts and prayers.

Many hugs,

Ella & Rusty

I just don't understand it. I've lived next door to people just like that...and that's where Trixie came from (they abandoned her when she got out. By the time she showed up on our back porch, you could see her skeleton through her fur. I have a feeling that's why she's diabetic today.). Why on earth do these people bother having pets???? Around here, the damned laws are just too loose, because animal control had been called numerous times about the neighbor's dogs who was chained up 24/7. Animal control coudn't do a thing, because he was provided with "shelter and water"...never mind the fact that he could reach either, because his chain was always wrapped around a tree. It is so sickening.

Yes, you are an angel. We can't change the whole world, but if we can have a positive impact on just one innocent life, we've done good. You have done way more than that.
