AMPS 241, 4th cycle @1.5u, 1/8 zantac, 1/4 ondansetron, 2/3 PP, 1.35oz 9%, 1/16t miralax

It's a yellow sunrise for the big guy! We haven't seen that in a while. He was very hungry this morning, hope that continues (unlike yesterday when his appy faded around +2). Just as I was about to open the drapes to let him outside, we heard a racket on the patio. It was a skunk, knocking over the roof rake. Jeesh. After I gently encouraged the skunk on its way, Zener got to do his patrol.

Today is one of those sad/happy days, Zener's diagnosis annifursary. Our lives sure have changed in the past year. It's hard to remember just throwing down some dry food, checking the water, scooping the poop and that was about all we did for the kitties' care. And Zener made sure to let us know if the bottom of the bowl was visible. What did we do with all of that time anyway? :lol: :lol: In some ways, Zener and Tillie are both much healthier now with eating better food. And we have met everyone here in Lantus Land who have been so helpful, encouraging and generous. We can't tell you how much we appreciate you.

Very nice little not-quite-a-bounce after a great green night for Zener. I'm glad he has rediscovered his appy!

The anniversary is bitter/sweet. We would give anything for our kitties to have never been sick. But given that's not in our control, the experience of dealing with their issues somehow bonds us closer to them.

How does one gently encourage a skunk on it's way?

I can't believe its only been one year. It is a happy day!!!! He's still here for you to spoil with lots of love. Every day is one to celebrate including the diabetes annifursary. Give Zener a big squishy hug from me.

Hi guys .. wow, it's hard to believe it's been a year .. where oh where does the time go .. I remember the days of plopping food down and scooping boxes and being on our way as well .. but it is also a comfort in knowing how much better care our girls receive now .. Enjoy the day!

HAPPY ANNIFURARY ZENER! It is bittersweet isn't it? It is hard fr me to remember what it was like before DX much the same. we too filled the bowls with dry, filled the water, cleaned the LB's, made sure they had indoor/outdoor access... wow, things sure do change, all for the better. I can't imagine going back to that now - we too have learned so much here.

Happy Anniversary! I can't believe it's already been a year, too! Yes, it is a bittersweet day, but as time moves forward, I'm realizing in many ways it is more "sweet" than "bitter." I hope you guys enjoy this special day!

Happy Annifursary!! It may seem bittersweet, but Z-man is happy and healthy because you got the diagnosis and made the necessary changes to keep him with you for a long time to come! Thanks to all for the 1st annifursary wishes! :YMHUG: Bittersweet thought it may be, we are so very grateful to our LL family. We have learned so much and are more sane on this journey than we thought possible, thanks to all the support from LL. Zener is much healthier and starting to do things he used to before diagnosis, like play chase the kitty (Tillie) and launch himself up on his condo.

Happy Annifursary!!! It is a bittersweet celebration but a very important one. I vaguely remember those days that you speak of. I have no idea what I did with my time. Zener is a happy healthy guy and you are both great beans! Celebrate big and give Z man extra scritches from aunt Melissa. To think our kitties gave us the best gift of all and that is our LL family. Happy Annifursary and so glad Zener is so much healthier now with all the changes. I love seeing the change in Daphne with the better food, so yes, its bittersweet, but I think more sweet too.

It is an odd thing to celebrate, isn't it? I can't quite remember what life was like before Gabby was diagnosed. Oh, right. I wasn't worried sick when I was traveling. Enjoy the cuddles on the couch and more than anything else, enjoy the very special bond that FD creates with your kitty.

Happy Annifursary, dear Zener! Yes, it is hard to remember what it was like in the days when we could just have anyone stop by and feed the kitties while we were gone and not have to worry. But the good things certainly outweigh the problems. Like having happy, healthier kitties who give us so much joy and love. And also meeting so many wonderful, supportive people here in LL, like you two!

Just when we think things are going pretty good, Zener's appy disappears which is what is happening tonight. So we gave him a little appy stimulant as he is in low blues and we want to make sure he will eat with his cycle just beginning. We use the Greenie allergy formula roasted duck pill pockets and notice that sometimes the pill pockets are darker and some are quite light in color. Zener does not like the light color ones, and of course, that seems to be all we have now and all I can find at the pets stores in town. Yes, I dashed out and bought several. :roll: I cannot find anything that says there are two different kinds in this flavor. Does anyone know?

@Tracy - thank you! Zener has gotten lot of extra smooches and scritches today from his LL aunties. We celebrated the day by watching lots of women's basketball. Zener is a huge fan. He does not like the dog mascots and likes teams with bird names best. ;-)

Happy Annifursary! It's also hard for me to believe it's been a year. And you both and Zener have made so much progress. He's doing so much better.

I think something must have changed because the last several packs of the duck and pea have been light colored. I think they just changed it.

Not the best of evenings for the Z meister, and not nearly the worse either. ;-) The appy stimulant (which we give in combo with anti-nausea ondansetron) did its job but his numbers turned in the wrong direction so we didn't really need to worry.

It's almost like he has tummy cramps or spasms at times. Massaging his tummy seems to help him feel better as does a big burp! Our vet emailed us and had done her research on the cisapride (propulsid) for motility and will be ordering it for us. It is a special order here so may take a little time. We do not want to use reglan again. Although it worked last time when he had motility issues, it also caused his neurological symptoms to increase.

@Marje - you are so right, he is doing much better. When we have these little rough spells with appy, it's easy to forget! Thanks for the info on the pill pockets.

We got a package of the light colored duck and pea pill pockets a couple of months ago and were puzzled by the change. Zener did not like them. When I bought the next bag, they were dark again. He was happy with those. Today we opened a new bag and back to the lighter colored ones and he was not so keen. Of course, I had stocked up on a box of 8 bags of them. :sad: So, he wasn't eating, we'd just given him his insulin and we couldn't even get him to eat a pill pocket with his meds. I had a slight panic and ran out to our nearest PetSmart and bought some, came home and opened them and it was the light ones. The PetSmart folks didn't know anything about a change. Oh well, it was one of those kinds of evenings. So, if anyone needs any duck and pea pill pockets, we have a bunch. :roll:

It all seems to come full circle as you were the first person to greet me and help me when I finally got on LL one night, posting for my first time after lurking for a couple of months and when we switched to lantus. Interesting about the PPs....the packs I had gotten were always light colored, but the pack I just bought last week is dark. They must be made in several facilities??

I've been having trouble with Mario taking his pills lately, and I just started an new pack of chicken PPS, which I had mail ordered rather than buying them locally, as I usually do. Hmmm...now I'm wondering if something is up with th PPs, and it's not him being stubborn and finicky...

Simon also likes the dark colored ones better and all I am getting now are the light ones. I just don't know what happened to the dark ones. I kept buying more to see if it was just a mistake, but no, all are light colored. And I have just wasted alot of money! Hope Zener is feeling better this morning.
