Hello LL friends!

Bailey went off to the vet early this morning for her pre-dental bloodwork, etc. and is probably getting her dental right about now. Her sister Maddie missed 'last call' on dinner last night and was insistent that I wake up and feed her this morning. Luckily I went back to sleep. Thanks for all the good dental vines this weekend, I am sure everything will be fine but it is nerve-wracking as many of you know!

Christie, we moved from Midtown too, about 6 years ago! We expected things like that to happen there, but you're right, crime can happen anywhere. I like this neighborhood, lots of families and young kids, but there are a couple of large apartment complexes nearby and I think that's where the unsavory element comes from. And yeah, we go to FMA over on Rainbow - wave to Bailey if you go to Woodside today!

No updates on the politest muggers ever - to my knowledge they have not been caught. I hope they choose another career path or at least another neighborhood  in the future! I was pretty proud of my DH for how he handled it - I would have been a mess!

Have a great day everyone!

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental day!

Sending good dental thoughts bailey's way today!! I'm sure everything will go good, but we wouldn't be mama's if we didn't worry right? :-D

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental day!

Gee, Melissa, if you had started to cry, they may have felt badly enough to let you keep all the money. :-D I do hope they catch them soon. Sending good dental vines to Bailey and calmness vines to you and DH. Oh, he probably doesn't need them, but just in case.

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental day!

Hi Melissa,

I know you must be so nervous. I hope bailey is finished with his dental by now and everything went well. I would be terrified. Neither Racci or Calli has ever had one. I brush her teeth and they've always looked so good. I never knew that they could have so much trouble hidden when they look so good until I read about it in a post here. Now I'm scared to death to put her under anesthesia unnecessarily between her asthma, age, weight, diabetes and everything else.

So sorry your DH was mugged! Will have to go read about it!

Good dental vines for Bailey! I hope all goes well. It is so much more nerve wracking for us beans than for our furkids. Have a great dental Bailey.

I hope you guys have a good day today. Still hoping that the muggers will be caught.

Bailey - it's me, Mannie. Bummer on the dental thing. Uhhhh... I will bring the KTSS and we will take care of you when you get home: ya know, remove the vetty smell, a massage or two, all the really cool stuff. See you later, and don't worry; the dental thing is OK. ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental day!

HI Melissa. You're probably picking Bailey up right now. Those pearly whites are gonna dazzle you, and Maddie :-D

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental went great!

Hi guys, I just called the vetty for an update and Bailey is doing great, still waking up a bit but will be ready to come home in 1 1/2 hours or so. Thanks for all the vines and support, I really appreciate it!!

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental went great!

great news - i was looking this morning for a bailey condo and only saw yesterday's. so glad it went well.

do you know about avoiding scarf and barf post-anesthesia by just giving a tiny bit of food every 20 minutes or so until her stomach motility is back in order? punkin had anesthesia 4 days in a row and i just gave him a teaspoon or so of food every 20-30 minutes for 2-3 hrs to make sure he wasn't going to vomit.

did she have any teeth removed?

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental went great!

ALSO!! Check her BG as SOME CATS can drop low after their post dental PM shot, as the anesthesia In Some Cats eats up the bg s.I know you will be conscientious & Bailey will be great!!
CONGRATULATIONS BAILEY ON YOUR NEW BOOTIFUL TOOFIES!!!!!!! aLL NICE & CLEAN!
Hugs & love & Relief from us!

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental went great!

I'm so glad everything went well. I know how you can't wait to get her home :YMHUG:

Re: 3/26 Bailey AMBG 245 dental went great!

Glad for news of a good dental! Hope it gives her some even better numbers as well!

Just got the full report from DH - Bailey had most of her remaining teeth pulled. She has only 1 front canine left.

She has Clavamox and 5 days' worth of bupe. I had DH put her in a quiet room away from the other critters and give her a little food. She escaped from him once and had to be chased so I think she is feeling OK! She was ravenous and asking for more food, he is going to wait a bit and then give her more.

I kinda wish they'd just taken that last tooth... then we would never have to do this again!! Now it's Maddie's turn... :?

oh, poor bailey. little toofless girl! :YMHUG:

on the good side, however, if there were a bunch of bad teeth, maybe now you'll get the progress you've worked so hard for with her bg & dosing! wouldn't that be great?

What is their logic for leaving a single tooth? I haven't had a cat that has had even a dental before. 3 year old Henry needs one though. Glad she is home and has an appetite. What an ordeal for her. Sending hugs.

Poor Bailey! That is an ordeal! I can't understand them leaving one tooth either, especially a canine. I would think it's going to cut the opposing lip or gum. I hope not and that he has a good and speedy recovery. He sure sounds good though, running around and asking for food.

Racci sends purrs and head butts along with my well wishes.

Hi Melissa,
I think Bailey will be fine with 1 canine. Don't worry about it being the only tooth. Rusty has 6 teeth, including both of his lower canines, but not the upper canines. The lower canines do not get in the way of his upper gums at all.
Wishing you all a good evening and sending mouth-healing vines to Bailey.
KTSS is on the way!

Awww!!! Jake(ga) had a dental and had most of his teeth removed, but he was 19 and so it took him several days to recover. He was wiped out and I had to syringe feed him a couple meals before he would eat on his own. So glad Bailey is home and doing fine!! She probably won't even realize she only has one tooth. Sid has very few teeth maybe 4, but one of them is his "fang" and it is the cutest thing :-D

All the best for Maddie's dental too!!!

Simon had those same meds after his dental. He seemed to feel just fine after the local anesthetic in his mouth wore off. It took me awhile to realize that he was rubbing his nose in his food because he couldn't feel his lips! Poor kitty.

I hope you'll get regulation improvement!

Good thing that soft, wet food is just what Bailey needs! I don't think any crunchy food would work with one toof! My GA who I had as a child until my wedding had about 1-2 teeth by age 20. She was such a sweetie. She got to have wet food at that point (we didn't know how bad the dry was then!)

I too am glad hat he dental went well: good news. I hope the clav goes well to, and the bupe, and that Bailey heals well and fast, sounds like she is well on her way. There is something unique about a one tooth cat. Bailey - make that work for you. :-D

Have a great night guys. Bailey -welcome back home.

Bailey, it's me, Mannie, checking on with you. They took your toothies? oh wow..... they took some of mine last time too. what is with them, taking our toothies and all. Sheshhhhh! Well the KTSS and I made lots of really good chicken soup for you, and we gots some really cool massage oils - we are on out way - uhhhhhh... I hope I can find Kansas... See you! ~~ Mannie

It's okay, Bailey... you still have more teeth than Willie!! Was thinking about you guys both when driving to Woodside for yoga this evening (and trying to figure out the location of the mugging incident!), then when driving by FMA on the way home, even though I'm sure Bailey was long gone. Figured it couldn't hurt!! :-D :-D :-D

Bailey has done so well... crossing fingers and paws here that the dental does the trick!!

I have to laugh... between Willie doing neighborhood watch patrols in the backyard, and Herbie diligently performing a rotating watch from every window in the house, I think we might be set here!

Have a good night!

aWWW BAILEY!! Moonie only has 4 toofies & she says she loves you with or wothout them--
Poor girl--Mow you can give her the bupe for several days, and with the ab's she'll be better in a few days, out & about!! Husg from us!

Phew! I'm glad that's over. Sure hope this helps the bgs for Bailey. That does seem like a good thing that DH had to chase her. :-D Paws crossed for a smooth recovery.

May I know did the vet prescribe any pain killer for Bailey?
Reason for my asking is sometimes I found vet prescribbing painkiller, sometimes dont. Most vet in HK still using Metacam though

Regarding your question about why the vet left one canine...
My vet is a board certified dentist and when I posed that same question to her awhile ago she told me that unless a canine loose, infected, etc., they are VERY hard to pull and the vets would rather leave them.

I have several cats with no or just a few teeth - they do just fine (and feel so much better!!)

Hugs & pets to Bailey.
