Zener is definitely feeling better this morning. He got a shot of Cerenia yesterday afternoon and that helped right away. Thank you, everyone, for you inputs on cerenia yesterday, especially Linda and Bear Man using ondansetron supplemented with cerenia with Bear Man and Teddy. The wealth of knowledge and generosity of LL is truly amazing and we are eternally grateful. :-D

We have 3 more injections of the cerenia which *I* get to give him. Anne gave him the bupe and I give him the cerenia. Jeesh, those needles are huge! And it stings. But he feels so much better that it is well worth it.

Here is a youtube link to Zener having a picnic. I couldn't get the embedded youtube link to work. Could someone give me a lesson? :-D

Anne leaves this afternoon for 6 days in London so I will be a single mom this week.

Thinking of Tena and CD as they mourn the loss of Curry and BigMac, and as we mourn with them. Also sending healing vines to DC/Noreen/DH, Rusty/Ella/Edward, Harley/Lyresa/DH/rest of their crew and others who are ailing and sad. Cheering for Vyktor/Serryn as his OTJ trial is going very well. Woohoo! :-D :-D Welcome to Danny and Nelson - another Aussie!

Happy Caturday LL!

Liz, really cute video of Zener having a picnic. I love the way he answers you saying yes I wanna go out and have a picnic. So glad he is feeling better. Looks like you had some excellent and experienced help. Wishing Anne a safe trip. Have a good day, Liz.

Thanks, Julie! I knew there was a secret. Anne is the supporting actress, I'm the camera person. :-D He is listening to you, Amy.

Snowing heavily here right now. I'll post a picture in a bit.

Zener looks great!!!! Does he get bouts of pancreatitis? A lot of cats have this as a recurring issue. I remember Sienne saying that pancreatitis and diabetes have a link but I don't remember her explanation. A lot of cats on FAF are on both cerenia and ondansetron. They are compatible medications.

Give him a kiss from me

@Ann & Maggie - he was feeling really good yesterday. I'm about to depart so of course, his appy is a bit off again, though he is doing some serious bird hunting in the snow.

@Karrie - he has not had pancreatitis. We had him tested a few times - 3 or 4 I think; one right after diagnosis last spring, one during the summer when he was acting a bit off, another after his dental when his appy really started to fail, and in January when he had the bout of vomiting & syringe feeding that you got us through! All have been negative. He seems to have more stomach cramping issues with decreased transit time that gets aggravated and affects his appy. He seems to respond best to zantac and ondansetron all the time, Cerenia occasionally for a few days, and cypro if he won't eat at all. Our vet suspects possible mild IBD but it is not diagnosed - nothing conclusive on ultrasound and she doesn't feel like an endoscopy is warranted. Big sloppy kiss delivered as requested! ;-)

Packing up all my electronics now and getting reading to head to the shuttle for the drive to Phoenix. We will be in wintry conditions for about 45 miles, then lower elevation where there is no snow. Thanks for keeping mamabean Liz and our special Zener (and Tillie) company while I am in London. I will have email to keep up with Zener but not likely posting until next weekend. Hope everyone in LL has a good week. Anne signing off. :thumbup

I'm glad Zener is doing a little better and hope his appy picks up as you depart and Liz is BIC all week.

Love the picnic video and I'm glad Julie shared with you how to embed it in your condo.

Have a great trip, Anne!!! I hope you get to do something besides work!

WOO HOO!!!! A Zener video! The embedding thing is as Julie described it, and very easy. If I can figure it out, you can too. :?

oh WOW on the snow. I so want to see that. Video please! or even just a pic...

Looks like Zener is taking the slow elevator to the lagoon. Surf well little one.

Enjoy your day - have a a safe tip Anne.

Re: 4/14 Zener AMPS 255;+1 322+2.5 247;+4.5 203;+6 147 video

Travel safely, Anne and have a good trip.

I'm glad to hear that Zener's feeling a better today.

And "blech" on the snow. We have tulips and spring flowers blooming.

Hope you have a safe trip, Anne! We will definitely keep Liz and Zener company while you are away.

Glad to hear Zener is feeling a little better. When Cleo got her first 2 Cerenia shots, they were done by the vet techs. They said the shot usually stings, but Cleo didn't even flinch. So when I decided I could do the shot thing on my own, I figured that it wouldn't bother Cleo. Boy, was I wrong. I guess she was just behaving well at the vet...the second I started giving her the Cerenia shot, she jerked and hissed so loud at me. I should have had DH with me to help since I didn't realize she would turn into psycho kitty.

+1 312, 0.5oz 9%, 7 drops kidney liquid
+2.5 243, 0.75oz 9%
+4.5 203, 0.5oz 9%
+5 NEG KETONES
+6 147, 0.55oz 11%
+10.5 93, 1PP, 3 mg zobaline, 0.1oz 11%, sliver of cypro (he chewed it, big time drool)
PMPS 119, 2/3PP, 1/4 ondansetron, 1/8 zantac, 1/16t miralax, 1.3oz 10%

So Zener has managed to do another all-day slide. At +6, Anne said "that's a nice nadir". We never really know when he will nadir. Crazy cat. I thought he was going to puke when I gave him the cypro in a bit of pill pocket and he chewed then started drooling. Jeesh.

It has snowed all day and my unofficial total (ruler stuck in some snow) said 10". Zener has done some fierce hunting right from the patio (kind of like fishing from the bank   ) because there is a bird feeder sitting right on the edge and it has gotten a bunch of action today. Monday's forecast is a high of 58.

Anne made it just fine to the Phoenix airport. The non-stop-talking 8 year old with no parents just about drove her crazy.

Randa: I hope you didn't put your snow shovels away. We are relieved he's eating too.

Marje: Anne will probably get to go out to eat once or twice and that's about it. She works really long hours at these tournaments. She is totally psyched because it's a test event at the Paralympic/Olympic venue. Very exciting!

Michelle: Zener rarely surfs. He either zooms or dives.  I hope he listens to you.

Sienne: We have tulips and spring flowers blooming too. It's hard to take April snow seriously, even 10" of it.

Julie: Thanks for stopping by!

Georgia: We had the same experience. The nurse just gave Zener a good scratching and he didn't do a thing. The other time I gave the shots, he hissed a bit. This time they really seem to sting. I may have to wrap him up.

Re: 4/14 Zener PMPS 119 video

I love the video! Pinkerton enjoyed the meow and wanted me to play it over again a few times.

Has anyone mentioned yet that Cerenia stings less if it is kept in the fridge and injected cold?

Re: 4/14 Zener PMPS 119 video

Zener has the cutest little meow

No wonder he likes to pull a rainbow kitty - he is copying the little rug out to his favorite picnic area, perhaps you should replace it with a green one!

Re: 4/14 Zener PMPS 119 video

Linda: That's good to know! We thought we should let it warm up. Thanks!

Serryn: Uh, we have lots of rainbow stuff.

Re: 4/14 Zener PMPS 119 video

Nothing beats a picnic in the snow! Is Zener picnicking in the 10 inches? Have you put your skis away, Liz? If not, you could go out and play.
Anne, have a safe trip and a good week in London. Liz, Zener and Tillie: hold the fort!
