Checkers is very quiet and slow, this morning, with no desire to get his fresh sink/tub drinks.
He wasn't hungry, but the overnight snack dishes were licked clean. The civies don't like his food, so I'm sure he ate it. Just don't know what time.

When he had trouble lifting his leg to scratch his face, it was time for bupe. He'll sleep for a couple of hours now.
Gotta make a pharmacy run, so hope he stays in safe numbers.

Healing vines for Checkers. I hope the bupe helps quick and he is feeling better soon!! Sounds like he had a little early morning snack. Nice blues today in spite of it all. ((((Barb)))) It is so hard to see them sore.

The numbers are great this AM. I hope he surfs well, has a great cycle this morning.

Nice numbers for Checks this morning, hoping Rupert decides to join him soon! Perhaps his leg is stiff this morning because he was up partying all night ?!?

Hope he feels better soon, he certainly seems to be a man on a mission lately!!!

Poor Checkers, I hope the bupe helps soon. Are you still getting the acupuncture treatments for him?

And sorry, but Pip, that second pic is just

Aw Checks! I can pick you up for Camp Stu and I promise no wheelies w/ you in the Furrari. Rusty has a nice chair w/ a soft fleece all set up for Moonie, we can put another right next to it for you so you can relax on the porch too! Then how about a nice gentle KTSS massage? -- Tess

Has anyone successfully foiled your cat's attempts at counter surfing?
When he was a baby, I tried all the tricks from sticky tape, aluminum foil, plastic mats with pointy things, ScatMat...he learned to walk between the electricfied spots on it.

Believe it or not, I saved a dozen or so, of ff cans, and hot glued a loooooooong string from one to another, and left them on the edge of the counter, so when he knocked off one, they all fell with a huge clang!!
All that did was wake me!!

The problem is.....he jumps down and his back arches when he does. I know from horrid experience, that doing that sharp arching, to a bad back, exacerbates the problem. I did it just last week, in PT, and was in agony for 3 days.

I don't know how to stop him. I've got a small cat tree on the living room side of the counter right now, but there just isn't room in the kitchen to put something for him to climb down on.

Sorry this is so long, but if anyone has a suggestion I'll listen gratefully.

Beautful surf for Checks today. It's hard to see him in pain. Zener can't jump on counters because of his cerebellar hypoplasia but Tillie can. We used a squirt bottle and did a "pssst" sound when she was a baby. She still occasionally gets on the table, that rascal. I just tell her to get down.

Are you more concerned about a way for Checks to get down from the counter safely than keeping him off the counter? Could you post a picture of the counter and cat tree?

Liz, I'd like to keep him off, period, but if that's impossible, then he needs to be able to get down safely.

If I could move my recliner, he'd have no way up, but I can't put it anywhere else, without moving all the furniture around, and I physically cannot do that anymore.
If I go up to him, try to take him down, he jumps when he sees me coming.

edited.....too wordy. :-D

Re: 5/30 Checkers pmps 268

Okay, if I can't keep him off, I can at least give him steps on both sides. These are what he gets up on the bathroom sink with.
A friend made them so Checks' sister Samantha could get up on the washer.
I'm going to have another set made.
Problem not soved, but it'll do, for now :-D
I'll just have to move them when I'm working in kitchen.

Re: 5/30 Checkers pmps 268

What about a "ladder chair"? You could use it as a chair in the kitchen in the day and unfold it next to the counter for Checkers at night,

Re: 5/30 Checkers pmps 268

Poor Checks...I hope teh bupe has kicked in and he's feeling better now. My kitties would totally ignore those stairs! Mario, my arthritic senior, often gets up on the dining room table via dining room chairs, then insists on jumping straight back down to the floor. Makes my heart stop every time...and it's the one time he's too quick for me to get to him before he does it. Crazy cat....

Have a great night, Barb!
