Good Morning, Everyone,

By the time I get back today it will be good afternoon, but just wanted to thank everyone who visited Rusty during our busy weekend. Today I am paddling the "6 Carries". Edward will stay home for another day of R&R and he and Rusty will hold the fort. All is well here. Rusty had a good night and wanted to stay in bed this morning because of the cold weather (48 degrees F. this morning), but he followed us downstairs and had a good test, breakfast, and shot, and is now chillaxin' in his little bed by the radiator (which, of course , is not on!!).

Hope you're having a lovely paddle while the men of the house are having their man time. No doubt Rusty will be having his own paddle in the lagoon shortly

Good Morning, Ella! Have a great time on the six carries paddle!

I just wanted to let everyone know how much I enjoyed my visit with you, Edward, and Rusty. Rusty is such a wonderful cat - intelligent, affectionate, loyal, and of course, a mighty hunter. Ella and Edward are gracious hosts, and their home and the surrounding areas are beautiful. I had a wonderful mini-vacation in the Adirondacks. It was a pleasure to meet Rusty's Aunt Claudia bean, and to hear about Rusty's life with her after he was rescued from the streets of Plymouth, MA.

On Saturday we visited the Farmers Market and poked around in the shops in Saranac Lake. The produce, breads, flowers, and cheeses at the Farmer's Market were lovely. Ella then took me on a hike (hike for me, stroll for her :o ) through some forest trails at Paul Smiths College. The views were breathtaking. We caught a bit of a demonstration at the VIC (Visitor Center) about raptor birds, and we were both very taken by the resemblance between one of their owls and Rusty! In the evening, Claudia arrived, and we had one of Ella's beautiful dinners.

On Sunday, Ella took me to the Adirondack Museum, where they have a lot of the historic boats, buildings, and old vehicles (including a private rail car, fully furnished) from the Adirondacks. You can watch an actual Guide Boat being built. The process takes the craftswoman two full summers. The highlight of my trip was a visit to Camp Stu. I dipped my feet in the lake, but got a little motion sick on the bobbing dock  , so we retreated to the porch. Sitting on the porch at camp Stu while sipping a ginger beer was a wonderful experience. The drive back home through the Adirondacks gave me a real feel for all that the area has to offer. We had a lovely dinner of pesto pasta, bread, cheese, and olives while sitting on the porch and enjoying the fresh breeze.

On Monday morning, while Edward was helping me put my suitcase in the car, I had a good sighting of the deer family walking through Ella's yard. Then Ella and I set off for a picnic at the home of one of her paddling friends on the St. Lawrence River in the 1000 Islands area. The views there were again breathtaking. After enjoying a few hours with her friends there, I headed out on the long drive back home. I will certainly miss Ella and Edward, and most of all, my pal Rusty Cat.

Thanks again, Ella and Edward for a memorable vacation.

What a lovely weekend. There's a reason the Adirondacks have been a magnet for summer vacations. I hope you enjoyed your paddle today and Rusty made it oto the Lagoon to supervise all the kits there.

Rusty misses his Auntie LindaBean! He looked for her last night and again this morning. Thank you, Linda, for writing the condo today!! We sure enjoyed your visit.
I don't think Rusty saw green today, so the lagoon will have to wait a bit. He and Edward had some good outdoor time, but no mice, chipmunks or squirrels showed up to enliven the day.

I had a full day of paddling and carrying (the canoe). It started out cold and rainy, but got pretty sunny as the day wore on. The carry trails were not as muddy as usual (we need rain up here). The ponds and lakes were lovely. I'm tired! We paddled about 9 miles and carried about 1.5 miles in all (2 longer carries and 4 shorter ones).

Off to visit some condos while I watch the All Star Game.

Hope all is well in LL,

Ella & Rusty
