Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty's trip to Camp has caught up with him. After the 282 at bedtime last night, we are down to 240 this morning. Hopefully he will be clearing this bounce as the day progresses. Tonight, at PMPS, I plan to switch from the Monoject to the Terumo syringes. Marje did the calculations for me and I am going to follow her caliper setting for a skinny 1.5 units. I am tired of not knowing what dose I am shooting. Even my "old" syringes from last summer--the ones that are more accurate than the ones in the recent lots--are often irregular with regard to the cone, the base of the needle, and even sometimes have a space between the end of the cone and the zero line. So it might take a few days to re-tune Rusty's dose using the Terumos. Maybe I ought to wait until he clears the bounce and start with the Terumos tomorrow morning. I'll decide tonight.

Rusty had a good night, a good test (with the exception of the bg number), a good breakfast of Wellness chicken and Wellness turkey, and a questionable shot (it may have been short). I see that today is day 42 on this cartridge of Lev., so the insulin may well be losing some of its punch.

Today will be a catch-up day of chores, shopping at the farmers' market, and trying to get back into a routine. It is going to be a hot one. I hope to get out on my bike.

Thanks to everyone who visited us during our week at Canoe Outing and our week with my family at Camp. I tried to keep up with the board, but there was so much going on that I didn't get on my computer very often. Rusty had a great time with his friends visiting him.

Enjoy the day, everyone. Sending swift-recovery vines to Barbara (Tuffy), good travel vines to Wendy and Neko, and healing vines to all kitties and beans in need of some.

Re: 8/4 Rusty AMPS 240

Morning Ella!

Good luck with the syringes. I hope the switch-over goes well. I still have the monojets, guess maybe I too should rethink this. I can still remember thinking when I changed to them so long ago how much better they were than the BD's. I will be interested in hearing what you think of the terumo's once you get going with them.

Sorry for Rusty amps! I had to do a double take on that one: is that really Rusty? I bet he'll come down soon - he's back home in the comfort zone, numbers will be better soon. Right Rusty? :-D

Have a good one today. I hope you get through all that you want to do.

Re: 8/4 Rusty AMPS 240

Morning Ella, sorry to see Rusty up there, but I think he'll come down in no time, especially being back home in his bed. Good luck with the calipers and Tuermos syringes. That has to be so frustrating with the syringes. Sounds like you all had a great time at Camp Stu and lots of activities. Enjoy the Farmer's Market, love it when I can go. We have one near the beach, but I need to look for another one closer. Have a good day catching up. It always feels good to get things done and out of the way to make room for more fun.

Re: 8/4 Rusty AMPS 240

Good morning Ella! Hope Rusty will come down from the yellowin the coming hours.
Argh, the syrings! It is frustrating! I am using the capilar but still the syringes can be pretty wonky. We have BD in HK only, so just have to do the best & put up with it! :?

Re: 8/4 Rusty AMPS 240, +5.5 137

Hey, Ella -

After all of the changes Rusty has gone through the last couple of weeks, I think he looks pretty good. Seems he's well on his was to better numbers with that +5.5!

Enjoy the Farmer's Market...and laundry...

Re: 8/4 Rusty [AMPS] +9 100, PMPS 96. 1st Terumo syringe!

Hi again,
Rusty came down from his bounce over the course of the day and was green at PMPS! Good boy! He's back at the lagoon, holding court.

I made the switch to Terumos at PMPS and measured with the calipers, setting them at the opening Marje suggested. It went very well. Of course I may have to adjust the dose over the next few days because I'm not sure how close it is to the "same" dose on the Monojects. But then I was never sure of the dose on the recent Monojects, so this may not be an issue. In any event, the Terumo 31-gauge syringe was very easy to draw the dose (no bubbles), and it shoots flawlessly. But here's the most interesting part: Rusty was eating when I gave him his shot tonight (sometimes I give it to him while he eats, but mostly he moves into the other room and we shoot on the floor). He stopped eating and waited for me to give the shot. I gave the shot and was surprised that he stayed for a long time in his "shot mode"--motionless; some trepidation. I think that he didn't even realize that I had given the shot and was still waiting for me to shoot! From this aspect alone the Terumos are a smashing success!!

THANK YOU, MARJE!!

Everyone enjoy the evening and keep cool. It was unbearably hot and very dry here today--most unusual.

Re: 8/4 Rusty [AMPS] +9 100, PMPS 96. 1st Terumo syringe!

You're welcome!!!! Let's hope it's close enough that you only have to fine tune....very minor adjustments :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hi again,
It may be a bounce, or the insulin may not yet have onset, or I need to tweak the dose. Whatever. I'm happy with the Terumos!

Ni ni,
this weather makes one very tired. Thoughts and prayers to all of those caught up in the awful fires and extreme hot weather.
