Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that my Mom is out of surgery. She's had a long day with some diffificulties with low blood pressure. She needed a blood transfusion but she looks great (she told me to say that, but she DOES look great darn her!) and her famous sarcastic sense of humor is well in tact! :)

I'm sure she will be in touch when she can!

Lynn

Re: Update from Carolyn's daughter

Thank you so much Lynn for letting us know that CD is okay. All of us at the "northwest get-together" spoke with her on the telephone on Saturday and told her that we'd be right there with her all the way - and we were - thought and spoke of her all day.

She sent a "paper CD" to us and if any of you are on FB, go onto Patti Fuchs' wall and see what she posted - we had "paper CD" with us at all the activities and the pictures are great. They're also on my wall and on CD's wall on FB - when I get copies, I can post some on here but don't have all the pictures yet as Patti took them on her camera.

Please give her our love and tell her she was in our thoughts - so glad to hear she's now doing okay.

Will be watching for updates.

Re: Update from Carolyn's daughter

Thank you so much guys. It means a lot.
Although I've struggled a little with low b/p I think it is better today. I got as low as 58/39. But couple units of blood helped. I stored my own at the blood bank pre surgery so that helped.

The hip surgery I had was a newer procedure - incision from the front instead of side/back. I was the first patient in this hospital to have it done this way. it means I have less precautions to take as I recover. Reg. procedure patients (during 3-6 month recovery) cannot bend at waist, cannot move leg past midline of body, no crossing legs - not even at the ankle, and cannot have the hip joint/torso at more than 90 degree angle. So picking up something off the floor just cannot happen. That alone would make me crazy.

Even though my leg hurts like someone jammed a 6" spike down my femur ( oh wait, they did do that..) . My recovery should be easier (eventually).

Ok. All this thinking nd writing has exhausted me... Nap time.

I hope the recovery is not as complicated as with the "old" style surgery! It would truly be a problem if you couldn't pick up the kitties -- even the littlest one. Please keep us updated. It's great to hear that you're doing well.

Hi CD,

I'm so glad the operation went well and the new type is less complicated to deal with during recovery. I'm so sorry for the pain. I know it must be a drag. I hope they get your bp straightened out so you can start regaining your strength. Best wishes and healing thoughts for a speedy recovery!

Good to hear from you C.D. Continued quick recovery.

Sending prayers, vines, snowflakes and everything else. Keep up the good work. Enjoy your PT. It helps even though my doc calls them 'physical terrorists'. Update when you can. Hope you get home soon.

Enjoy your nap.

HUGS

Hi Carolyn,
Get that bp up and running today so you can go home soon, OK? And many, many fast-healing vines and good acclimation vines for your new hip.
Thinking of you and sending lots of love and hugs (and kitty kisses from Rusty),

Ella & Rusty
