10/4 Racci AMPS-143,+3-124,+6-115,PMPS-149, Test Result??s

Happy TGIF!

Poor Racci is constipated again. She still hasn't gone since yesterday when she went a little bit instead of her usual twice a day with at least one large movement. She's walking badly because of it and got tired when in the pan and laid down in the litter! Naturally I freaked and told her not to lay there, so she hasn't pooped yet. I'm afraid she'll get infected again if she lies on it, even tho it's probably clean. (I scoop & refill every time she uses it since she's so prone to infection.) She's also not eating because of the constipation, per usual. She probably would have been green if not for that.

I'm going to try to take advantantage of what may be the last summer day since it's going to be about 83 here today and cold by Sunday, if Racci lets me. I'm hoping she'll eat and poop soon.

Well, Talk to you later. Have to go while the sun is here.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

I hope all our sick kitties are feeling better today.

Re: 10/5 Racci AMPS-117

Poor Racci! I hope she poos soon. They do get uncomfortable. I don't blame you on not letting her sit in the litter after all the bottom problems she has had. Enjoy your day! It was 85 here yesterday and 50 today so it is moving your way.

Re: 10/5 Racci AMPS-117

Thanks Melissa!

That's funny. I just left your condo and came here to see your note in mine. :-D I guess we were on the same wave length.

We must be getting the same weather pattern as you are. I just gave an extra dose of miralax. She should go now. I just hope it's not diarrhea. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile
Ihope poor Tarragon is feeling a little better and was able to poo by now also. TTYl.

Hugs,
Melanie

Hi Alexa, Roni & Leslie,

Unfortunately, Still no poo and Racci is getting higher and higher bg's. I was able to get her to eat by sitting with her and got another dose of miralax in her, but nothing seems to help. It's a good thing I had her butt shaved again because when she does go, it will probably be very loose and messy but the cleanup will be easier than it would have been if all her hair there too was long! I wonder if she's sore because she had the anal glands expressed? Maybe I'll take her temperature. That might help her. This seems to be a bad week for poo for a lot of the kitties.

She's holding her left leg very stiff also so it must hurt. I sure hope the adequan comes in quickly and helps her when it does.

I have to get her stuff ready for her meds and shot & food so maybe she'll go after this. Thanks for visiting and the support.

Hugs & have a good night!

Oh Racci, sending extra duty heavy poo vines to you!
Maybe she'll relax and go when everyone is in bed tonite.
Do you have a electric cat pad so the heat might make her leg feel better? Maybe that would help her relax it.

Her numbers will go right back down as soon as she gets some relief. cat_pet_icon

Hi Rhiannon,

I only have a heating pat for people and it gets very hot so I'd be afraid to leave it with her. She had both methyl b12 & cosequin and they usually help her and she likes to sleep cuddled up in a blanket so that might help her tonight.

Finally success! She pooped at 2am! After more miralax! I hope she's not up all night pooping now but at least she won't get impacted. Your heavy duty poo vines must have done the trick.

Good night!

How about using a blanket wrapped hot water bottle? Usually my cats will sense the heat & lean onto it when they are cold. A large hot water bottle will retain it's warmth for around 8 hrs.

HI Melanie - sorry to hear about the poo problems - ok Racci - Let There Be Poo!

Rhiannon has a good idea with the bed - we use beds from CozyWinters - we have 2 of them that Molly loves. They are specifically for animals and don't get too hot. There is no thermostat, and (at least the ones we use) have no ON switch. They are pressure sensitive and only warm up with a cat is on them. Pretty safe.

There are a number of options here:

These are the mats I have. I have one next to my computer and she lays with me often with I work.

I love the logo - "Cats stick to them like glue!" It's true!

Hi Helen & Lisa,

Helen,

I don't have a hot water bottle but may pick one up and see if she likes it. We never use them for anything. Thanks.

Lisa,

Racci has similar matts to that all over the house. They are thermal and warm up to the cats body temperature and retain it. Racci decided she doesn't care for them anymore for some reason? She also won't sleep in her bed anymore. Now she likes towels and her turbo scratcher as beds. She's weird. I'm afraid to buy a bed at this point since she has so many that she refuses to use. Thanks.

LOL I don't buy beds either! My other kitty used to sit and lay on this shiny packing paper. My mom gave me a stack of it when she moved, and that's where Josie would be. On a folded up piece of paper. Whatever!

The mat I have is electric and has a temperature control that senses when the cat is sitting on it otherwise it doesn't get warm.
It has a plush velour feeling cover on it.
Shadow will sit on it even in the summer. I think it helps with the aches.
