Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty is back up again this morning. I guess it could be a bounce. It can also be trip residue. I'm debating whether or not to take his dose back up a drop, but I think I'll give him a little more time. He was doing so well before our Xmas trip. He may be working on a hairball: his appetite is only so-so. (He had great appetite while we were at my sister's house.) This morning we had an "ouchie" shot. Rusty meowed and pulled away (but the shot got in). I guess I hit a nerve ending. I felt so bad! I tried to comfort him, but he would not be consoled and just went into his little bed by the radiator. I'm going downstairs to check on him in a few minutes.

The New Year's weekend is upon us. We are so happy that Rusty's Auntie Linda (Bear Man) will be joining us again. She arrives tomorrow. Keeping fingers and paws crossed that the weather will cooperate! It's a long drive from Toronto. (We're supposed to get more snow today, but tomorrow looks OK so far). We will have 16 people here for 5 p.m. supper and midnight dinner on New Year's Eve (between supper and dinner there is the village's "First Night", which many will want to go to--lots of different venues of music, dance, comedians, story tellers etc). For those who want to stay here by the woodstove, we offer a video of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", lots of Viennese New Year's music, and games (Pears Pairs; Mexican train dominoes).

Well, drat on that yellow. He can take a while to settle down from a trip though. Your New Year's Eve sounds like a bunch of fun.

Hi Ella. Hopefully Rusty is still experiencing jet auto lag from your trip and won't need an increase.

Hi Ella, hope Rusty is feeling better soon. Sounds like there's been a lot going on. Hopefully rest and eviction of the hairball do the trick!

It takes sometime for them to adjust after these stresses. I hope Rusty is back at the Lagoon soon.

Sounds like you have a great evening planned. How great the Linda will be coming down again! We will probably be fuddy duddies and just stay at home and listen to the KUSC New Year's Eve Bash think of classical music mixed w/ Spike Jones, Victor Borge and the Gong Show, hosted by the ever so serious Jim Svejda.

Sounds like a Great New year's Eve party, and I bet all are so looking forward to it. It looks like Rusty has come down on a nice slide, but I know you're used to lower numbers. Wishing Linda a safe trip tomorrow and good weather for travel.

Hi again,
It's a good thing Linda has a lot of stuff in her car. It will make it heavier for travel tomorrow and she'll get better traction (it's been snowing all day here, but is expected to stop by tomorrow morning). We wish her a good trip. She gets to drive through some interesting country.

So Rusty had a largely flat day after his AMPS of 248. He's been in the middle blues. I hope that he'll get back to his normal numbers soon. If I have to take his dose back up, I'll wait until after the party. To answer the questions about how Rusty does with company, the answer is: fine. He loves people. He stays in the room, usually in his basket or on his perch, and waits to be admired. Last year he got a little antsy when it was his (and our!) usual bedtime, but then settled down again.

Looks like Rusty came down to a very nice PMPS! I hate those ouchie shots...I do those once in awhile, too, and I always feel so bad - especially when I have to re-stick Trix because she pulled away.

New Year's Eve sounds wonderful...safe travels to Linda!!!
