We had a great morning taking his BG counts. He was active and ready for breakfast.

I have maintained his insulin, feeding times, and food amounts.

Seeing an interesting trend of his AMPS trending down into a better range??? But will continue to get evening reading on him.

Morning guys wanted to stop by and say hi and welcome you! Glad you are seeing the preshot's coming down, that is a great sign! You are doing awesome so far!

This will be our first +10 reading :lol:

So I am not sure how to proceed with these next 2 tasks.

Question 1: Are there any hairball treatments recommended for sugarkitties? If not treated he will have 2 hairballs a month now that he is cleaning himself again.

Question 2: We will be switching Rex over to Merrick Can Cowboy Cookout. Should this be done gradually? or Cold turkey? No feeding problems here, he will eat anything/everything.

Laxatone natural is one of the few products that doesn't contain corn syrup. Vetbasis is another product but it may have gone off the market. Some people will use vasoline. You could also give Rex a little bit of oil (coconut, olive, fish) or unsalted butter.

It looks like you're using Pet Naturals. I'm not sure that the maltodextrin is OK for a diabetic.

It's fine to switch the food over. Please test diligently. The D/M you're feeding is low in carbs so there shouldn't be a problem with switching over.

Great job today! I hope he likes Cowboy Cookout. I believe it was designed to most closely resemble a mouse.

Hi guys, and welcome!

Just saw your condo. We use "NaturVet" hairball aid: http://www.garmonmanufacturing.com/...category_id=15&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=8

It contains "sorbitol", but no sugar, as far as I can tell. We've been using it for about a year and it does not raise Rusty's blood glucose levels. He really likes it and we give it every day as a "treat". 1/2 teasp.
