Good Morning, Everyone, Happy Groundhog Day!

The groundhog is not going to see his shadow here in the Adirondack Mountains, so that means "spring is just around the corner". Well, I'm not so sure about that! It is +6 degrees and snowing, great weather for our village's Winter Carnival, which began last night with the crowning of the Ice King and Queen and continues through next weekend. Today's events include a woodsmen's competition by members of the Paul Smiths College Woodsmen's (and Woodswomen's) Team (chopping, sawing, axe throwing, etc.) and the Ladies' frying-pan toss. Fireworks tonight when the Ice Palace is lit. The big parade is next Saturday afternoon. There will be races (ski, snowshoe, foot), art exhibits, lots of music, church suppers, etc. The theme of this year's carnival is "Under the Sea". The LagoonMeister would like all kitties to get with the theme and come to the Green Lagoon to surf.

Rusty had a good night. He had come down from his fur shot nicely by the time we went to bed and this morning has a normal AMPS. We had a good shot (yay!). He ate the FF T&G portion of his breakfast (saving the Wellness Turkey for the second sitting) and is sleeping in his little bed by the radiator. This is good hibernation weather.

Wishing you all a good weekend and hoping that all sick kitties and beans will be feeling better soon,

Ella & Rusty

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

Sorry I missed you yesterday... Bummer on the fur shot, but it looks like Rusty recovered nicely. What a great amps, and no doubt headed to the lagoon.

Woo HOO on the ground hog and his absence of his shadow - I so could use an early spring, though one would not know it by today's weather. It sounds cold there, but wow: snow fall! Pretty I bet, and how fitting for the winter festival. Are you going for the fireworks and the place lighting? That must be fun, and ever so pretty.

Enjoy your day today, and the snow. I hope it is a good one.

Re: 2/2 Rusty AMPS 117

'Morning Ella, gorgeous start for Rusty today. If he decides to visit the lagoon, hope he surfs nice and high, so you can go have fun at the ice events. Ours isn't nearly as fun as yours.
I can't get out anyway....keeping fingers and toes crossed, for a neighbor to take pity on me and plow my drive. I am the only home on this side of the road, of open fields, so the town plow pushes snowup & up, the hill, and it dumps in my drive.

Have a wonderful day, Ella & Edward, and Little One, by the radiator. :-D

Re: 2/2 Rusty AMPS 117

Good morning Ella. Nice start for Rusty this morning. He probably didn't want to go to the lagoon until after his morning coffee.

Your Winter Carnival really sounds nice. Are you competing in the snowshoeing or frying pan toss?

Have a great weekend.

Re: 2/2 Rusty AMPS 117

Very nice recovery, Rusty! The winter festival sounds like a bunch of fun and you have SNOW! :-D :-D Ours is gone in the sunny spots and sublimating in the shade.  We have a month-long festival in Flagstaff, including snowboarding on the hill downtown with natural (dirty) snow and man-made (clean) snow. We need a Woodspeople team!

The LagoonMeister (aka "Neptune" for the Under the Sea theme of Ice Carnival) is back in the lagoon. Hooray!

We went to see the Woodsmen's events this morning (lots of wood chopping, sawing with huge cross-cut saws, and axe throwing at a target. One of the women choppers did really well, but the guys excelled in most of the events. (All the participants are students in the Forestry program at Paul Smiths College). Then the frying-pan toss: the same woman who wins it every year won again. Last year the cast-iron skillet broke, so this year they had to contend with a new one (regulation cast-iron--heavy). Edward wore his "dead fish" hat that our friend made for him. Tomorrow we're going to watch the ski races.

Sounds like so much fun there and new snow to boot. :-D Tarragon said to tell Rusty that he is swimming in the green lagoon in his honor. Have a great night Ella!

Nice greens for Rusty. Glad you had fun at the Winter Carnival.

Got caught up in a rented movie: "The Lives of Others" (about the infamous East-German system of spying on everyone in the population and keeping detailed records). Scary stuff!

Rusty had a good evening, good appetite for dinner and his bedtime snack, and is now batting his bell balls and assorted mice around the living room.

The beans are turning in. Ni ni,
