Good Evening and TGIF, Everyone,
I'm later than I expected to be because of friends stopping in and then having to clean the house for my sister's visit tomorrow. Rusty had a good day, spent mostly alone. But he ate his food that was left for him and was chillaxin' on his perch when we got home. Last night he had a lot of congestion and was sneezing, but today he was fine. I attribute it to the change in the weather from that icky humidity to really good, fresh air today.
The beans had an interesting day. I climbed the mountain we had to turn back on last week because of raging water in the stream crossings. Today we bushwhacked up the mountain from the other side and it was like a walk in the park. We were at the summit at 9:45 A.M.!! (started the climb at 8:30). Edward and a friend (the husband of one of the women on the climb) went out hiking, lunching, looking around at the boat builder's shop, and we met them later at our house. So we had a fun day and a fun afternoon. The weather was SUNNY, low humidity. Not too warm. We had 8 people on our climb and one of the men and one of the women were birders, so it was really interesting to hear their identifications of the birds by their songs.
So now we are getting ready for our big week of the summer season: Canoe Outing, which begins on Monday. Rusty will be pretty much on his own. Edward and I have to have a room in the Paul Smiths College dorm at the Outing, but we come home to spend the night, give Rusty his shots, etc. He handled this OK the past 2 years, so I hope he will be fine this year, too. Last year I ate my dinner very early, drove the 12 miles to our house to give Rusty his PM test and shot, drove back to the Outing to attend the evening meeting, and then both Edward and I drove home for the night (and to be there for AMPS). It's not exactly relaxing, but it's the only solution for us. Some days it is possible to get home in the mid afternoon for a little while (depending on what paddle we are leading). We've been doing this Canoe Outing for about 10 years and look forward to seeing friends we only see at the Outing, meeting new people, and doing lots of paddling. It is our vacation. And I don't have to cook!!!!
Wishing you all a good evening and a fine weekend. I won't be around much for the next week, but will try to post something every day or evening.

Hey Kitties, come visit me when my beans are at Canoe Outing. There's lots to do here, and we will have full use of the kitchen, the porches, we can go fishin', and paddling, etc. We can have a party!!
