I found the 6 men letting their dogs jump at her as she lay in a ditch almost dead on July 1st '94. My pup went and started to wash her and I scared the men away. She has been a Good and Faithful Friend and Nurse since then. Cessan - 12 1/2 year old Norweigan Forest Cat Diagnosed Diabetic Dec 2006 Caninsulin - started on 0.06 units but was bottoming out Am trying to regulate now. Let her have dry vet food for 1 1/2 weeks (the last 2 weeks) BG went crazy. Took it away after doing more reading and last night and yesterday she only had home made diet. Running 5 BG now which is normal. But sure she isn't ready to be insulin free. Feb 11,2007 Caninsulin 0.06 bid was what vet started her at. I dropped it right away as she hit 1 and totally hypo Was bouncing from dry food only via vet - from 31 to 25 and he said was good! I said I wanted lower and he said do what you want and we will check her in 6 months. I found a home made diet with low carb and started her on that and she liked it until she decided chicken was not an everyday meal. During this time she was getting lower readings and then she stopped eating. Gave her some dry food again and she shot all over the place. Back to homemade with a couple tablespoons dry and then found this group. First 24 hours with just wet low carb and all dry food thrown out. Feb 2nd 5am 5BG 11am 5.2 BG 5pm 6.4 BG Feb 3rd 5am 7.2 BG 5pm 5.1 BG Feb 4th 5am 6.4 BG 5pm 4.4 BG Feb 5th 10am 4.2 BG Feb 6th 8am 5.7 BG Feb 7th 11am 4.2 BG Feb 8th 11am 3.4 BG Feb 9th 1pm 4.7 BG Feb 10th 10pm 4.7 BG missed 11th Feb 12 6pm 4.7 BG Feb 13 11pm 4.7 BG Feb 14 11am 4.7 Feb 15 8am 5.5 BG saw I had bought wrong can of food fed rest to dog 4pm 4.7 BG Feb 18 8am 4.7 BG 1pm 3.1 BG tested as she tried 1 of the 2 Friskies she can have it isn't a bad brand!! Gave her some tuna and a few treats. She said after 2 tests she deserved it. Spot checks now she runs 4.7 only changed when she ate some dog kibble. That is gone now and she is great 4-21-07 |
