A few months ago @Taffysmama turned me on to the lantus savings card that you can register for online. For the last few refills using this card, I only had to pay a $10 copay. Until my last visit....I walked out of my cvs pharmacy with a FREE Lantus pen. I had to ask the pharmacist if it was a mistake and she said, "nope".

I thought it was a fluke but then today I received a letter along with my new lantus savings card which shows my lantus prescription for Ozzy is FREE for the next 12.months. FREE!!!!!! When the savings card expires, I am to simply renew the card for future savings.

This is incredible!!! Unbelievable!! I had to share. Please pass along and please sign up for this card!

This is not a fluke...attached is the letter I received today and the new savings card showing $0 copays for lantus! I tried to find my receipt for the pen showing it was $0 but couldn't find it but I promise you I walked out with a free pen.

Ha! Got my card today, too! Although, I do keep a digital copy on my phone.

Got my last pen for zero zippo nada, too!!!

I registered as a guardian, used my first name, his name, then my last name.

Where/how do you sign up for it? And where do you use the card? Do you have to go to a specific pharmacy?

Hopefully it will keep working, but if they find out it is for a cat it may not be accepted.

This reminds a little of way back when they had coupons for 5 free pens of Lantus. Everyone ran out and used it.
I hope the card keeps working for you guys. What a nice savings!

I've used it and mine does too, but I just wanted to warn people in case they run into a problem. I'm glad you are able to use it.

Yup, this is my concern, too. But my pharmacist fully knows that it is for my cat. I kind of worried about too many of us sugar kitty mommas using it and raising a red flag, but I wanted to share the info rather than keep it to myself, so many could benefit So I've posted it several times. But I wasn't the original person who posted about this discount program. I don't recall who it was. I sure hope it keeps going, it's a tremendous help for everybody!

Google "Lantus savings card". You have to answer some questions and register. It asks if you are a caregiver or guardian for someone using Lantus, I said yes. Used my first name, Taffy's name as middle name, and my last name. I think I used Taffy's DOB. I have used it at both CVS & Rite Aid.

For me, yes, I can get one at a time, but good for 12 Rx fills.

Not sure if I did it right. Do they send you card or is it on your phone?

I printed one off so I could use it right away. Then they mailed me a card.

Both. I think I got an email with a pdf or something of a "card" & saved that to my phone. Later I received a card in the mail, as well. I use the one on my phone mainly.

Just that you have discount card and see if they take it. Do you have insulin Rx filled somewhere already? Try it next time you get a refill pen. (Get card first and take with to pharmacy.) If they refuse it or have trouble getting it to go thru, try a different pharmacy. I have used at Rite Aid & CVS. The pharmacists are usually very helpful and they know it is for my cat.

I just tried to use my lantus savings card. The pharmacist tried, but wasn't able to get to to work because she needed a NPI of the doctor. However, vets do not have this number. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Glad it is working for others.

Next time you go to your regular doctor see if s/he will give you a "sample" pen. Hubby had a check up today and came home with one Lantus pen and two Basaglar pens!

Hi Jo & Julie. Miss seeing you both on the board. I've been quite a drop out from getting sick but now I'm back.
Glad to see the Lantus card is still working for you guys. I thought the $10 was an amazing deal and then last time I went they didn't charge me anything. I can't figure it out :)
The only catch is that my pharmacist says no free or $10 refill for 90 days. Shouldn't be a problem with the dose Uncle is on.

Hope you guys and the kids are doing well:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Will try to get samples. That's a great idea. Also with farther research found that vets can get an NPI for free. So going to see if maybe the vet could get that before Gizmo needs his next refill.

    Hi!!!!

Hope you and Uncle are doing well. Sorry you were sick, I hope you are feeling much better.

I've been such a drop out! I need to update Taffy's SS and get back to posting, but I also have been sick on/off, and just soooo tired, all the time! Taffy remains at 1.75-2 units, we can't seem to break that. And I'm so incredibly groggy at night I am nervous to be aggressive with dosing. I don't know what's come over me, I used to be a total night owl!

His BG #s run higher (200-300) much of the time and I hate it but I up to 2 units and within a day or two he drops too low. He has been at vet several times recently, has possible SIBO and/or IBD or, gulp, lymphoma. He still eats, just less, and does not seem to feel super great. Although, he looks very healthy. Just today, however, he has developed some sort of eye problem and so I think we are headed to vet tomorrow. Idk if he got scratched or it's an infection.

Has Jo + Ozzy popped in at all?

And, about your Lantus discount, I was told one per month, max 12/year.

My actual card took a very long time to arrive. I used the online one for the first two times. I hope you can get it to work! Sometimes I think it's a matter of finding the right pharmacist who knows how to input stuff in the system to get discounts to work. Some techs don't know enough.
