He seems to be doing really well. 198 AMPS and 294 PMPS.

So this evening Marty is holding him, and I am trying to get blood. No dice, we were totally unnerved; we tried like seven different spots. Poor Zoot! with the rubbing and the poking. :arghh: Then I realized I forgot to put the lancet into the lancing device! :) Took two more tries but at least I know now we weren't tormenting him the first 7 times!

Thanks for the giggle. We've all done stuff like that. Glad you can keep your sense of humour about it because this dance can be really stressful at times and a little laughter goes a long way. :D

oh my -- I normally use the lancet freehanded

was poking at his ear, didn't feel right, nothing was happening on his ear

then I realized I had not yet removed the "guard" from the lancet needle, and was trying to get blood with the blunt (other) end ....

    NOT a morning person ...

Yup we all need a laugh in our trial and tribulation with this. I won't tell you how many time I have stabbed myself instead of the cat! I was using the pen and Mango didn't mind the click but I too didn't seem to get much blood. Finally just started doing it freehand like CandyH and it so much easier because I can see where I am aiming. Not so with the pen. I didn't believe it when it was said that the ear's grow more capillaries but it's true. I hardly had to prick Mango's ears after three weeks of frustrations. Now the blood flows easily. So hang in there and you will get better at it. I swear!

Last night, during many tests because of a low glucose (my first day ever testing Bruce)... I finally got a good sample... and accidentally dropped the strip in a water dish. I also pricked myself more than once. Can’t wait for those capillaries to come in!

    Here's a funny one.
This happened early on when I first started testing Katie.
I test her in the living room chair while she eats a small plate of chicken breast. Normally after the test I pick everything up (meter, lancet pen, etc) and leave her there to finish her plate.
Well, I forgot to pick up the lancet pen and left it in the chair. After about 30 seconds I realized I left it in the chair, and went to retrieve it. I walked in the room just in time to see Katie pick up the lancet pen in her mouth, jump down, walk over to her water dish and drop the pen in the water. LOL. Guess she told me what she thought of that ouchy pen.
BTW, Katie has never before or since dropped a toy or anything else in that water dish. Only that pen.

I didn't think it would get much easier but it does! I just need the right ear to give me some more capillaries! I try to rotate ears but its hard when you know the one ear is going to be a problem. We've also had better luck with free hand vs the lancet. Its easier for us to see where that damn teeny tiny needle is going o_O

After a couple years since I adopted my sugar baby, Tyler, he will look over his shoulder at me and go in the bathroom. I have multiple cats, and the little bathroom is "his" room to get food.
