? Should I start giving Jack insulin again?

Jack's official remission date was June 2nd, just 10 days ago. His AM numbers are a little high (122,129,136) the last several days, and his PMPS, right now, was 96 -- a little high for him. However, his between cycle numbers are good, although maybe not quite as good as they were when he was on insulin. Should I start giving him shots again? @Djamila What do you think?
I'd love some advice/opinions from others before I make a decision here.

While I don't love those AMBG numbers, I wouldn't restart insulin right now. The rest of the day is still under the 120 threshold. I'd just keep an eye on things.

Any changes? Health concerns? Increase in family stress? Change of routines?

Nothing's changed for Jack, except that he's eating almost all raw food now. I don't think that that should raise his numbers. At least I hope not. This morning his BG was only 76, and that made me happy. I'll just keep an eye on him. As always, I appreciate your advice.

Jack looks wonderful, and he certainly looks happy and healthy! But his AM blood glucose numbers are still elevated, and I don't know why. I'm keeping an eye on his numbers, for sure. But I don't know if they remain this high - could that just be his normal? Should I never worry if just his AM numbers are elevated but the rest of the day looks good? I certainly would have felt better if his numbers stayed lower, like they were when he was still on insulin. I hope I'm doing the right thing by keeping him off the juice.
Thanks for responding to my post.

I think as long as everything else is looking good, you just ignore the morning numbers. Does Jack eat during the night? It could just be that he's hungry. Sam always runs higher if he hasn't eaten. Maybe don't test him until an hour or so after breakfast. Makes it easier to ignore those blues if you don't see them. ;)

    It sure does!!
It's very possible that Jack is hungry enough, in the morning, to have it raise his BG. He's a chow hound. I do leave some canned food down when I go to bed, but I suspect that it doesn't last too long. I'll probably keep testing his AMBG until I'm convinced that it's just Jack's "normal," but I won't keep doing it everyday! This morning, it was only 96.
Hmm... I wonder how long it will take for me to relax about this?

Jack's pre-meal BG numbers are continuing to drive me insane! Tonight, he was 141, and at +1.5 he was 68. Should I worry because his pre-meal numbers are climbing, or should I feel relieved that they go down to healthy , normal numbers (without insulin) after he eats?

Have we talked about giving him a +9 snack before his tests? Sometimes that can help them avoid the end-of-cycle spike. It looks like all of his mid-cycle numbers are good, and the PSs aren't terrible, but it would be nice to see him staying a little less blue.

Nope, we didn't talk about a +9 snack. As it is, my daughter gives them all a snack somewhere around +7 or +8. Today, it was + 8. I've been giving them EZ Complete raw, but at lunch my daughter feeds them canned. I wonder if it would be any different if he got raw at that time? It seems to satisfy him more.

I think his numbers, pre meal, are elevated for a few reasons. He's hungry and he knows he's going to be eating soon, he's really excited about getting his snack afterwards, and he negatively anticipates that poke. He doesn't mind the entire procedure up until that poking. He looks forward to it, he purrs the entire time I warm his ear and talk to him, and then he stresses out right before I poke him. He is a very nervous cat, and I've always been surprised that he's allowed me to do this.

I wish I could bring those numbers down at pre mealtime. They are worrying me a little bit, but I don't want to give him insulin if he doesn't need it. Also, if I gave him insulin with his numbers going down on their own, then I'd have to worry that he would go too low. Anyway, thanks for listening. He's just driving me a little crazy here.

I'd say try not to worry about it too much right now. Giving him insulin wouldn't be good given how quickly he drops after he eats. Maybe see if your daughter can feed them just a smidge later, and you could try experimenting with different food to see if it makes any difference. Are you sure no one is sneaking him a few Temptations treats before you get home? ;)

Nothing would make Jack happier than to get his little paws on those Temptation Treats! But no, he hasn't gotten a hold of anything like that. I'm going to try really hard to stop worrying about this. Thanks, Djamila!
