My get recommended feeding twice a day, before insulin injections. I've read on this site that some people give their kitties small meals or maybe a snack mid-day. I work so can't do noon snacks during the week. I could leave a little food out though...thoughts?

    Thanks !

Yes... leave a little out :cat: :). Diabetic cats (ALL kitties!) are meant to graze. They don’t have “breakfast and dinner” like humans do... by nature  :p ;)
Do you have any other kitties? If not... this is / will be a piece of “cake” :)
Are you feeding wet or dry?

Many people used timed feeders to feed small meals and snacks throughout the day. You can also freeze wet food to thaw out for eating later on while you are out.... "meat popsicles" as we call them in my house.

    P had hypoglycemia yesterday.
Her dose was reduced from .5 to .25, per another forum member, going forward.
This is so overwhelming Krystin. I cried buckets last night and off and on today.
    This forum sure helps though.

    Here is your other thread.

In Lantus, it is best to keep it to one thread per day. Lantus Land is a busy place and it saves people from having to jump around. If you have a question, you can put up a question mark in your title and, if there's space, add the question to the title.
As mentioned above, automatic feeders (some have little ice packs underneath), frozen popsicles, feeding before you go out the door.

SS shows reduction, “0”, not .25?

I don't feed dry so not sure times feeder would help...or maybe there is a different feeder than what I'm familiar with?

Starting in blue numbers, that's nice!

Here is how to "link" your previous condo.
    1. Call up your previous condo and go to the very top line of your browser's screen, where you will see the URL for the condo (www. felinediabetes.com etc. etc). Highlight this URL (right click on a PC; control click on a Mac). Click the "Edit" button and click "copy" (on some browsers, "copy" will automatically appear, so you don't have to click the Edit button).
    2. In your today's condo write at the top of your post something like "Previous Condo", or "Yesterday". Highlight the word(s) you just wrote.
    3. Go to the function bar at the top of the Lantus Forum and click on the symbol that looks like a chain link (7th symbol from the left). A dropdown box will appear asking for the URL. Go back up to "Edit" on your browser and click "paste". The URL will appear in the box.
    4. Click on "insert".
This will help all of us to help you !

    Keep posting!

I probably filled out the SS incorrectly. I used 0 units to indicate that I skipped a shot. How would I record that correctly?

Jill, we bought a CatMate C20 for Idjit, it has a little ice pack that fits under the two "dishes" and we use it for feeding when we are gone or if he needs a midnight snack. CatMate also has a 5 "dish" feeder, the C50 model with 2 ice packs.

Some members also use a PetSafe5 feeder with 5 compartments for food.

I had to teach Idjit about the feeder (he's very cute, but sometimes a little "doh!") so I put food in, set the timer, then lured him to the feeding station so he could see the lid open and find that there was food, glorious food, in the tray. He was a little dubious about the opening part at first, but soon was sailing right along. I got up one night for a bathroom visit, and he was sitting in the kitchen watching that feeder, waiting for it to open.

As Figaro's Liz told you, the meat popsicles work too, but with two kitties and depending on how long you will be gone, you might not want to leave out too much. With the timed feeder, they could be presented with set portions at times you decide.

I use a timed feeder that came with a cold pack. I also freeze the food if I think of it in time. Small meals seem so much better for Jackson’s system. I recommend trying it.
