I will tag someone much more experienced than myself to help you out :cat:

But it definitely doesn’t look too alarming to me, just looks like Mel may need an increase is all, you are only at one unit! But let’s see what Linda says

I'm only seeing BG readings up to 01Sep19 on your SS and quite frankly, while those numbers have room to improve, they really aren't looking bad at all. I take it that BG readings have gone up since then? Do you have data for the last week or two? If so, can you please update the SS.

We are very data oriented here and it's impossible to give you any suggestions based solely on numbers from a month ago.

I can see your spreadsheet but we need more current readings. Do you have readings from 02Sept to current date? We want to help but without seeing what the recent and current readings look like, along with current dosing we have no idea what is happening. If you have readings and can either add them to the spreadsheet or post the past week here, then I'd be more than happy to see what I can do to help.

Chin up. Quite honestly, Mel is not doing too bad at all but I think a little more insulin is needed. I see you have been dosing 1u for pre-shots over 210 and 1.5u over 400 and that is fine but we don't dose solely based on pre-shot numbers. You need to know how low a dose is taking BG mid cycle and while you have some mid cycle tests, they are mainly around the +6/7 timeframe for the last couple of weeks.

ProZinc's peak action when lowest BG is attained (also known as nadir) usually occurs between 4 and 7 hours after the insulin injection. Getting tests between those hours randomly can give you a better picture of when Mel is hitting nadir and how low BG is actually going. Changing doses based on pre-shot muddies the picture and makes it hard to know what is going on.

I suggest you increase the dose to 1.25u as long as pre-shot is over 200, (no change even if it's over 400), get some random tests in the +4 to 7 hours post shot and also always get a test before you head to bed each night. Without night data you are only seeing half the picture.

The DM Savory select food is about 10% carbs which is on the high end of what is recommended. If you could find something else with carbs between 2 and 6% carbs that Mel likes, that might help get BG down a bit too. Check out THIS LIST for some optional foods to try.

Thanks, so far I cannot get Mel to eat the pate well enough to switch. I agree, I am going to do another curve this Saturday then will randomly check the next few weeks. I am going to say his nadir is earlier than 6-7 hours now. Will post after a few more readings are taken.
I am glad for the positive energy.
Mel is on the U40 syringes and to draw .25 is not possible. Which syringes would have the .25 mark? He is on Prozinc.

Merrie, your spreadsheet link is not in the signature, so that we can view it easily. You can edit your signature like this:
    Merrie is mom to Mel/13 y.o. male/Dx 8/19 / 1.25 U Prozinc BID/AlphaTrak2 meter/Savory Selects DM/Pancreatitis & Asthma/Baltimore MD

Then you will have room in the space allowed to link the spreadsheet as Mel SS. If you need some help with this process, we have members that can assist or do it for you.

What a lovely cycle yesterday! Don't forget to get a test in during the night cycle even if only one before bed so you don't miss the other half of the picture. :D

The testing is going to get easier too Merrie. It takes time to learn new skills. :)
