I got my first mid-cycle numbers yesterday after the advice of holding 2u steadily for a few days. The numbers aren’t good. So, I increased to 2.25u today and the numbers still aren’t that great. Should I continue on the 2.25u for a few more days to see how things go?

Yes I would hold the 2.25u dose for 3 days and if no improvement then re-evaluate. In the meantime, it would help if you could get a test on the night cycle. Even a test before you go to bed at night will provide clues as to how the night cycles are playing out. Without any night data you are only seeing half the picture and a lot of cats go lower at night than they do during the day.

If I did one an hour after the shot and say before I go to bed, would that help?

All data is helpful. One hour after shot may not tell you much or it might tell a lot. The other thing some folks do is to grab a test if they get up during the night to use the facilities.

It's possible that Fluff's BG dropped to levels he/she is no longer familiar with earlier today setting off a bounce. Getting tests in the +4 to +7 timeframe when ProZinc usually reaches peak action help to see how low BG is going. Getting tests in that time frame can be impossible if you are working during the day but if you can get tests in that timeframe during the weekend it will help fill in the picture.

It might also be what we call new dose wonkiness and if that is the case, numbers will come down.

I have been there and I think many folks here have. Take a deep breath and listen to the advice you get here. These people have guided me through and I could not have come this far without them. Remember there is no overnight fix and you are doing everything you can. More mid cycle tests will let you form a more complete picture. Sometimes numbers do go a bit haywire with dose changes. Give it a few days and get as many tests as you can. That will be the only way to decide on further dose changes. Hang in there I promise it does get easier and less stressful. :bighug:

Try not to hang on individual numbers. They are but one moment in time. You have to look at the big picture on the SS as well as paying attention to Fluff and his demeanor and behaviour. His numbers will improve. This is a marathon not a sprint so it takes patience and perseverance. :)
