http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/11-26-pax-amps-460-highest-yet.222147/ I am still confused why Pax can have a calm day one day and bouncy day the next with no change in food or dose or anything else I can think of. His feeder feeds him wet food 4 times a day: PM+10, AM+2, AM+7, PMSHOT time (yes I also give him a little food with AM shot). He normally has a left over food over night, so I am not worried about him not getting enough (he does sleep through the night and normally in bed with me). With every can of food I mix 1 can of water (he likes catfood soup) and I leave water out for him to drink if he needs. He does have a lot of energy during the day and sleeps well through the night.
Cats can bounce from a quick drop or getting into numbers lower than they are used to. That's not necessarily really low numbers. It is part of the process and will eventually settle down.
Hi Jennifer, if you're following TR you can increase every 6 cycles if you don't see any nadirs under 200. Perhaps it's time for an increase? Sounds like his appetite is good and he's eating well. The bouncing will settle over time...hopefully. Many cats level off somewhat...but it's a natural phenomenon. Try not to focus on the high bounces...just look for those nice lower numbers
Thank you both. Because I am not able to test much this week I was going to wait until the weekend to give the increase. I don't want him to drop too much and me not know while I am at work.
As you've discovered, kitties are often bouncier after coming out of remission. Plus, if you aren't seening green nadirs, the overall numbers will be higher and you'll see more bouncing. Any chance of changing the feeding schedule? Any food fed after nadir is going to shorten duration and give you higher preshots. That PM+10 and AM+7 might be contributing to higher numbers. If you have to feed then, maybe make those meals zero or very low carb.
If you have recommendations on better times please let me know. I need to feed him 4 cans a day, he is a very large breed cat. Sometimes he will eat the whole thing in one sitting, sometimes it takes him the full 5 hours to eat it all. I want to make sure he is getting enough food without overfeeding.
