Hi all, Hope everyone is well. It’s hard for me to post daily because I am in the last couple of weeks of the semester and family illness/additional responsibilities and etc... it’s also hard for me to test as much as I’d like. I’m not sure if Yoshi is constantly bouncing and/or if I’m not catching lows during the day or evening because of work and trying to get some needed rest... He seems to be having movement on this does more than others. Should I increase .25 tomo? I’m at work all day thurs and Friday. Can someone look at his history and tell when he likely clears a bounce? It seems like it takes him a long time? Or that he is eternally bouncing? I do think the dose is starting to sting a bit. Today he moved and bent the needle.
Here is your last post for continuity and history http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/yoshi-amps-279-full-5-5-u-stalling.222403/#post-2486647 I seem to recall glucose toxicity was mentioned to you previously, it really does seem that Yoshi is getting too comfortable in these higher numbers. You haven't really had a nadir lower than the high 200s, it does seem that he need more insulin. Anything else going on? How are the 5Ps....preening, purring, peeing, pooping and playing? I don't see bouncing, I see higher numbers.
Aren’t bounces higher numbers after numbers they aren’t used to? He had a stretch of yellow a few days ago and I have a feeling he’s hit yellow a few times when I wasn’t looking. All ps in place. He hasn’t pooed today. I have to give miralax. Otherwise everything in place. He’s attacking the belt of my robe currently. He will be screaming for food in 2.8 minutes and counting
He just snuck some licks of salad dressing from my lunch fork from my lunch bag. His head was in the bag and I was like WTF (pardon). I’m sure he will skyrocket to a BG of 294940. Unreal.
Love how accurate those kitty clocks are!! Time to increase, but by 0.5 units. TR says to hold for 6 cycles then evaluate. With no blue, much less green, you increase every 6 cycles. If you hold doses too long, as you have been, you get glucose toxicity. Once they get over 5 units total dose, we increase by 0.5 units unless you are just tweaking a dose that already has some green in it. Think of the increase as percentage of the total dose. A 0.5 unit increase now is just 10%. I think you'll be safe increasing tomorrow, as all you have seen is yellows.
Yes, that is very true, but those higher yellows were nothing to write home about ...this dose isn't doing much...and I am mid type as see Wendy has also responded
Okay, I will do it on on the PM cycle. I don’t want to increase when I’m gone all day, Thank you @Wendy&Neko
Good luck with the increase! I hope Yoshi will see some better numbers soon Hopefully life will settle for you soon
Still rooting for you Yoshi. Jennifer - he just wants to grab some extra, extra attention with his dosage. Try not to be afraid of more insulin - try to see it as just what he needs. We love Yoshi, like all these babies, and want to see him in a better range. You are doing good for him by increasing to 6 units. Take care of yourself too!!
