Ended up going to see the vet today.
Makoto was grinding his teeth overnight and since that can be indicative of pain or dental issues- Mom dragged him right in.
Chem/CBC/ UA/ T4 sent out with dental rads. Dr. said Makoto has cervical disc pain. Poor bubbas. Just Gabapentin starting tonight until labs come back.
Back up to 0.25 today, although I had a harder time getting the dose set this AM.

Ari, that makes me sad BUT hoping the Gabapentin helps. It's been great for Tina with her spinal arthritis and hip (collapsed joint space). We started with 25mg BID, and are now at 50. Upping the dose didn't make her tired or sleepy either. Our biggest problem was getting the correct form of Gabapentin. The liquid (chicken flavor) made her gag and drool like crazy. I hope Ari doesn't have that problem! (If so, there are other options.)

I hadn't even heard of a kitty having cervical pain, but unfortunately, our cats have so many of the same issues we have.

Get better precious Makoto. And we'd like to see good labs;)

    Lots of little things...
Not finishing meals in one sitting, but frequently coming back and repositioning himself (sitting, standing, crouching then standing again). I raised his food dish so he doesn't have to crane his neck at all now. The other day he slept through his lunch and just seemed off ( ADR or" ain't doing right" ). Makoto had been over grooming his sides and flinching- the vet thinks in attempt to reach his back since it's inflamed.
We think that the teeth grinding was due to pain since he had done it after being asleep for awhile, all curled up. His vet mentioned the weather recently and how many dogs had been in for arthritic pain and we just started to put things together. Won't know nothing else is going on until bloodwork comes back.
He's a pretty long cat, so I wasn't surprised by the spinal changes but I didn't figure on neck pain.
I will have to adjust our BG testing as I currently cradle him in between my legs for rear paw pads. We used a foam wedge today and it helped a little.
I felt so bad I ordered him a new temperpedic pillow so I can make him a better bed.

Poor baby, no wonder Makota's numbers were up a bit. :(

I had good luck with acupuncture for Neko's arthritic pain. The vet also showed me how to do acupressure, which I did every day to supplement.

    Oh yeah?! Thanks.
I should check into acupuncture too. I did laser therapy with my dog , but I don't think I want to go that route again...I might also try adequan again as I am sure his hips are likely bothering him too if his back is out of sorts.

all in all - not terrible numbers today for having to go to the vet for 2.5 hours
