I haven’t given Colby one of his favorite treats since his diagnosis and I was wondering if anyone can help.

Fresh catnip. He loves to eat the leaves. I always joked about him loving “salad”. Can he have fresh catnip leaves? What’s the carb count? I’m sure someone here must know. He loves to indulge in about 8-10 leaves every couple of days.

I have two good sized plants in my window and if he can’t eat it anymore I want to give them away.

He is less enthusiastic about the cat grass, but does enjoy that as well and I have also been restricting that.

Thank you for your advice and expertise!

    Monique

Some people even sprinkle catnip on their cats food if their appetite is not as good as usual. Fresh or dried.
Can also be used to sprinkle on wet food to get a DFAA (Dry Food Addicts Anonymous) cat to eat wet food instead of the dry food.

I sometimes tell people that Wink was the founder and charter member of DFAA, (Dry Food Addicts Anonymous).

I used every trick and tip in Dr. Lisa Pierson's article, Transitioning your cat from dry to wet food to get Wink on better food. He never did go for the "catnip sprinkled on the food trick" or the "sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the food trick."

Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets feast did the trick after several weeks of struggling. Then he learned to like and enjoy and eat other flavors. (Thank goodness!)

Wink preferred his catnip sprinkled on the carpeting, where he could luxuriate and roll around in it.

LOL Neither did Trouble. OMG I felt SO guilty. He would sit where that dry food bowl USE to be and just stare where the bowl use to sit. Lucky for me he LOVED can food. Something he never had before. But MAN those days were as hard on me as it was for him.
