We had a vet visit today, due to his sugar being 274 this AM.( I had one made for his sister, used that appt, glad to have made it, she'll get to go soon for her arthritis.)
He has a dental cleaning scheduled for next Fri, as per advice here, thanks! Anyway..., the vet was VERY impressed with the spreadsheet and is on-board with all that I've done with his testing and dosing, btw. He found that his mouth looked 'rough' with much tartar, possibly 3 extractions and pockets of infection. Zeke is on antibiotics in prep for that. Also had a clogged anal gland that needed expressing and causing discomfort, and a curling nail into his paw, that needed trimming (old kitten injury) that was probably painful, as well. All labs look good. He put him back on 0.5 U for now. Hopefully, we'll be back on track soon, he was 440 at vet, and again at home hours later. Moving forward with fingers crossed for good dental results!
I was reading that if their stools are soft often, their anal gland may not express properly as it is suppose to do when they have to push. Could this possibly be a sign that he needs something to make his stools less soft? I haven't read anything here about wet food causing this, any thoughts? Thanks.

I'm glad you're getting him in for the dental work....Hopefully it'll be just what he needed to get him back OTJ!!

The hardest part of the dental is the bean sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring with those cherished words "everything went fine and you can come pick him up"

Ollie's previous vet told me to give fiber, to bulk up stool so it will help drain glands when it's passed. I also use Glandex now.

I'll look it up, is it something to put on him or in him? Ha! Ha! Pumpkin too, I guess. Thanks!

George's teeth sent him out of remission. Once he had extractions (all teeth removed bar one molar and his canines), and he healed up and inflammation subsided we got him into remission again.
good to see he came back down into blue from those reds.

I would fall back into the protocol letting his numbers guide you and taking an increase if he needs it.
