    Yesterday

Butters was sliding down when I went to bed so I set an alarm to get a midcycle test, which showed the sliding stopped. But then at some point she decided to slide down further. Note for next time: set alarm for a test closer to end of cycle. I can't figure out where she nadirs during a cycle. Also of note, I found puke this morning.

    Have a lovely day/evening, all!

Nice start for Butters. I hope she surfs safely today. Make sure and get a +1 and +2. I hope the puke was a one time thing.

WOW! Butters likes to get things started with a bang! As Carla mentioned, please be sure to get a test at 1+ and 2+...maybe even 3+. Lantus can sometimes take a couple or three hours to kick in and someone doesn't need much help this morning to hit the surf. I've noticed that sometimes after a puke session Luci will have lower numbers too...not sure what that's about but you may want to keep track of the puke+low number thing...could be a good clue for you to know in the future.

63 @ +1. A nice number, but she seems to be sliding down.
@carfurby @Sue and Luci I'm worried she got lower at +1. Would you mind giving me advice please if you are around? Is it ok to wait to +2 for next test? I have some MC and HC food and some sugar syrup ready (and test strips) just in case.

I am thinking I'll give her a tsp of MC now just to keep on top of things, and then test at +2.

This is her first puke sesh in a couple of months. Noted in my spreadsheet for future reference! It could be related...she hasn't normally been dropping at +1.

That's a beautiful surfing number! The Lantus has really even kicked in yet, so I suspect a full depot is in play here.

Is she eating her low carb food ok? It would be great to keep her surfing along these numbers - feed low carb and then test again in an hour. If she's dropped again, put some medium carb down with the low carb - I've done this many times to keep Luci surfing along - its a hit or miss now - just be sure to keep testing until she gives you a clear picture of which way she's headed.

Yes she loves her LC food and will eat it anytime. I panicked and gave her 1 tsp of MC before you posted. I'm working at home today so I can keep on testing her. I shouldn't have reacted so quickly with the MC food. Noted for next time. :)
    Thank you Sue.

I agree with Sue. I'd feed LC food unless she dips into the 50s. Hopefully she'll give you a nice surf today.

No worries..happens to all of us. Part of the learning curve...she may still surf...just keep testing and you'll learn how she responds to carbs and how low she will go on this dose...and if she's in unfamiliar territory she'll bounce too...get ready for the roller coaster ride. :)

70 at +2. Sticking with LC food & going to feed 1 tsp. This is some ride!

I also forgot to mention I started her with a methyl b12 supplement this morning. The one I see Diane Tyler's Mom recommending. Not sure that would impact her BG.

Thank you for helping me this morning, Carla and Sue.

Looking fantastic! Lyla, just had to stop in and say how completely adorable Butters is!! Love the name too.
You don't need to worry about the methyl B12 raising BG, btw:cat:

Thanks Jan! Tina Marie is such a beauty.
Good to know about the methyl B12. I had been holding off starting it until she was more regulated. Finally decided that I should just give it a go.

No more puking today. Still running away from me after dinner. Refusing to play. Always always used to play after meals. Perhaps warrants a mention to a vet when I have one again.
