Great to see a drop. As suspected the amount he eats correlates with his BG. Seeing as he has only been with me 9 days I am still learning what he likes & doesn't like to eat. His previous owner fed him DM dry & I only do wet. He loves Ocean Whitefish & doesn't like salmon. A learning curve for all. Maintaining 1 unit for now.

Are you a DVM? If you want to see history click on his spreadsheet. I've discovered he has ear mites & that can affect his BG. I treated him this evening for mites so no change in dosing until that clears up. Additionally his BG yesterday didn't warrant an increase. I will not be posting here unless I need help. Comments received so far by you are unwarranted. I thought this message board was supposed to be helpful, how wrong was I. Sorry but your telling me to change Kingston's dosage is wrong. You don't know his history & you aren't a vet. You may have owned a diabetic kitty as did I but that doesn't make you are a know all be all.

No, just a board moderator. And someone with experience in using Tight Regulation for many years. Hence the comments on the format of the posts, as listed in Making the Most of Your Lantus, Basaglar, & Levemir ISG Experience. There's a lot for new members to learn - we just want to help you learn. And get the help you need to help your kitty get regulated. Good luck with getting the ear mites treated.

I’m sorry I don’t know your name, but you obviously love cats and it’s great you have taken in Kingston. That it really great.
But I do want to say that Wendy would be one of the most knowledgeable and caring people I know about feline diabetes. She has never said she was a vet nor does she try and be one, but I can assure you she knows a huge amount about FD and the treatment of same.
We are all volunteers here who log on every day to help people learn how to manage looking after a diabetic cat. For most it is a very challenging experience and they want all the help they can get.
If you don’t think you need help that is absolutely fine and if you disagree with something, we encourage you to bring it up for discussion. We are a peer reviewed forum and welcome discussions. But please don’t be rude to volunteers who give up hours of their time every single day to help others. This is a very friendly and caring forum and we want to keep it that way.
I hope you will stay as we can all contribute.

I was getting annoyed being told to increase dosage because if I had Kingston could have had a hypo episode. Both times I thankfully ignored her & his BG was low after 1 unit. You can see on 7/31 he dropped to 60 after 1 unit, what would it have been if I had increased? My previous diabetic did have a hypo episode & I don't want to go thru that again. There could be other underlying conditions that should be taken into consideration before telling someone to change things so asking questions first would be a better way to approach things. I prefer to be more cautious & learn more about the cat as I have only had him less than 2 weeks. I was posting here 2 years ago with my first diabetic so I'm not unfamiliar with the disease. Suggestions are welcome but I'm not comfortable with someone I don't know telling me to change his dose. Perhaps had it been worded differently I may not have gotten annoyed. Additionally I have mentioned in my original posts that Kingston is my second diabetic but it appears no one reads the entire post based on comments I received. On that note, I'll be back eventually. Have a good day.
