Falling numbers again this morning. I don't want to skip after a great night of numbers. What should I do?

We didn't feed between +11 and normal shot time and the number stayed the same. He ate at his normal shot time. Probably shouldn't have let him eat.

I didn't shoot yet. Thirty minutes after normal shot time he's 85 on the AT2 despite eating breakfast.

Can you delay a bit longer to see if Philly comes up..it'll delay your shot time tonight though. I hate to see you skip...he's just getting into some better numbers...

I'm here all day so I can shoot anytime. I am also working from home, so I work for a little while and then track him down to test.

He ate a bit more 30 minutes ago.

Looks like he is getting longer duration than most. On dogs you don't shoot under 90. I see your reduction is at 70 and using AT meter.

I would hate to see you skip but still......here is another option - 18 hr cycle.

Give normal dose if numbers permit 18 hrs after last shot, skip normal PMPS shot and then resume your regular time in the morning. This is something rarely done. He gets his insulin later same dose and keeps somewhat normal schedule.

That's a new concept. Hmm. Might be a good option. He started having these falling numbers late in the cycle a few weeks ago. I am starting to wonder if a depot insulin isn't a good choice for him as much as I like the idea of Lantus. He was 123 for two of his overnight tests and was given snacks at each, but still dropped to 88 by morning when I would've expected a rise.

My vet wants me to use 60 on a pet meter as Philly's reduction number. On the 13th he had a 68 and I chose not to reduce. He had a 44 since then, and we did reduce.

It's not something you do routinely and certainly doesn't work for high numbers. However, based on Philly's ss last couple days, he seems to be having great duration, add the low ps it's better than skipping altogether. A one time modification might be good choice. Otherwise I say shoot late and reduce dose as he went under 90 on the AT.

For any lurkers THIS IS FOR PHILLY ONLY.

For future reference, do you have calipers? If not you might think about getting one. Have a feeling you will be needing them.

He is up to 106. I like your thought about taking a reduction since he was below 90. Normally I wouldn't reduce at this number, but it would allow me to shoot this morning. I shot .5 at two hours past normal time. Not ideal by any means. I'll monitor and have the SOS gel handy.

    Thanks for being here today!

I’m glad you shot a reduced dose instead of doing an18 hour.it will have a lot less impact moving forward.
