I was googling whether ondansetron and Cerenia could be taken concomitantly... and of course the most helpful answer towards the top of my search results was on FDMB. :D

    https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/ondansetron-and-cerenia.73017/

Now...! This brings me to the fact that no one has told me she shouldn’t take Cerenia daily for an extended period. Does anyone have an idea of where to find a source for this? I like to present new info to my vet and be able to back it up with verified research when possible. I think she’s learning as we go through this with Alice, too. I mean, I know she is.

Also! ....yes Cerenia and ondansetron taste awful and she’s mad at the pills, what is the tiniest size empty gelcaps a person can buy, and where do you find them? Pilling and syringing are both really just completely pissing her off lately. I don’t want to destroy her relationship with me because of the large amount of poking and prodding she gets.

+3.1 is 89, purry, got up out of hidey basket, ate a good meal of tiki w water again, back in her basket.

I noticed the calorie content for the tiki cans is only 80kcal/can. A little disappointed it doesn’t stretch farther in that regard. I tend to appreciate that pates are more calorically dense for the same price as the gravies etc. I have 50-60 lbs of cats to feed besides Alice (though they eat their cheap friskies pate for now.. I want to upgrade slightly but even FF is a lot with so many cats).

She's soooo sweet! I'm so happy that she is happy and purry and cuddly today. And yay for finding a food that she is so willing to eat. Great job, mama!

I’m hoping she will appreciate the Koha beef later when her tummy isn’t as upset! I guess it is common for IBD cats to decide a food they loved is awful suddenly. I think it’s like they associate that food with tummy hurts and nausea. I never touched a particular food again because I threw it up once as a kid. :p
But for now, 100% it’s wonderful she is eating!!!

PMPS and +2.5 are relatively unchanged. Does this mean a flatter more stable curve is likely? If so... I have hit a major CG fatigue wall here and I have to take some medicine and sleep and wanted to see if I could just get roomie to encourage her feeding a few times.

Alice looks pretty good right now!

I was still too fatigued to feel safe enough to do subq fluids for her today though. Too tired to drive safely is too tired to operate needles like that safely.

    I hope she surfs....

Not true - that used to be the thinking but that is now changed that it can be taken daily. Note the date of the post you linked. Cerenia and ondansetron target different nausea receptors. Depends on what is going wrong with the cat, one or the other, or both maybe needed. At one point, Neko needed both. The article linked in this post has a table on page 232 that contains dosing (Cerenia = maropitant).
I never had a problem giving ondansetron in pill pockets, but yes Cerenia causes foaming. You can get size 3, 4, or 5 gel caps. Size 5 is the smallest. If you have multiple pills to give at once, a slightly larger size allows you to cram multiple pills/meds in one pilling session. You can even find gel caps in meat flavour! I could find size 3 and 4 locally my compounding pharmacy, size 5 from the specialty vet clinic, but you can also find them online. Capsuline and Amazon are two sources. Try to get some made in North America.
