Ernest switches to Lantus

    Good luck. I hope those numbers come down. Keep in mind lantus can sting at high doses. Have you ordered an acro test?

    New vet wanted to wait for his bloodwork & urine tests to come back first.
    The bloodwork came back with normal thyroid, liver & kidney function. Slightly anemic (repeat in 7 days). 387 BG - as expected. Bladder worms - uncommon, causes bladder inflammation. He's waiting on the rest of the urine. Very poss he has a UTI since he's had a lot of them. If so, that can make if difficult to regulate.
    As soon as the rest of the tests come back, he will recommend meds. Actually hoping for UTI. Then he'll treat the bladder worms & UTI.
    He did find a level 2 heart murmur with arrhythmia. We'll get an echocardiogram for that soon. Other vet never mentioned that and he didn't check for UTI.

    ah... yes, infections or the worms may be elevating the BG.
