Dose is back up to 0.5 Been feeling kind of hopeless today. I should have gotten a feeding tube back when I started thinking about it. She’s so skinny. Around 4.4-4.5lbs. Blaming myself for not treating her infection ages ago, properly . Wondering if I’m dragging out her suffering, when she won’t even eat by herself anymore. But I keep telling myself she deserves a chance for this antibiotic to work to see if she can get any better. She does have this water fountain someone gave me and she seems to be a fan of it. Waiting for meds from chewy. Starting to feel very disappointed in my vet. Just kind of feeling like I am watching everything roll further and further downhill. I need some hope, strength. Maybe a reason to believe this could get any better. Also, not sure why sugar was so low and now higher again (late shots notwithstanding), except maybe she is getting more feeding in. Or the infection is getting worse. Subq at home today was 125-150mL. Gave nausea med, antibiotic, and appetite stimulant. Still syringe feeding. Stopped doing the math to know if it is enough and just focusing on trying to feed her at all as we are able, in any amount.
I'm sorry things are so frustrating. You're doing the best you can to take care of her. Don't beat yourself up for what you could have done in the past. You did the best you could with what you knew at the time. Try and take things one day at a time and give her a chance to get over the infection. Sending prayers.
I hope Alice improves soon. Please take care of yourself...it sounds like you're under a lot of stress.
