Last night we did not shoot because he was around 200 and not going down an hour later either. This morning I checked at +10 (2hrs before AMPS) and he read 211, now AMPS is 189.

    Here is yesterday's thread: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...ps-344-7-148-10-184-pmps-199-1-201-ns.237525/

What does it mean that he did not go up despite not having received insulin in 24 hours?

Should I shoot him and then monitor every hour?

    Thanks!!

I have not fed him yet and he is just sitting by his bowl looking at me sternly. I could feed and retest, but also don't wanna push injection time too far back.

Test now again. Did you get a 189 or 199 like I see on the ss? You could have shot the 199. If you wait too long he might drop more.

Please test again now and see if still dropping. Without food that might happen.

Last night I did two tests with the same drop of blood and one read 191, the other 211, so we concluded that is due to meter variance. I will wait for a bit longer before testing him in the hopes that if he is going down, it will show a more significant drop. If he is steady around 200 how should I proceed?

Tested again and it reads 195. What now? Inject, feed, monitor closely? Or feed, test, inject?

It’s close enough to shoot as long as you have hc or syrup, can monitor , have enough test strips and can be off schedule.

BTW, you can shoot 15 minutes early each cycle to get back to your desired time.

So he ate about half of his 3oz can of fancy feast and then went to nap on the couch, I just tested him at +2 and he is at 250. So the food brought him up a bit and the new injection probably hasn't kicked in yet, would that make sense? Just trying to develop a feeling for how it all works for him!

The insulin generally kicks in between +2 and +3. He’s bouncing from spending all that time in the blue range. It can take up to 6 cycles to clear.

Spencer was nice and steady today hovering just above 200, now we gave him 1U and are gonna keep testing. I will probably get up at night around +4 to get a test. Just to make sure he does not plummet.
