Actually I stalled out of procrastination for 15 minutes so I'm going to test again.
Waiting to make sure I have someone helping.
Already I am on the verge of tears this is so stressful for me.

Hi Jan, I am here. I will have to step out in a couple of hours to take Bandit for her dental.

ETA: You have shot similar numbers before. If you can monitor, you can shoot! :)

Hi Bhooma, Thank you so much. I am going to test again (sad). Will you tell me then if I should shoot? Thank you.

Since testing is such a challenge with Squeaky, do you want to save that test for later in the cycle?

Bhooma he retested at 172. Okay to shoot then? It is still within 15 minutes of his morning shot time.

My understanding is if you don't shoot within 15 minutes of testing BG, then you have to retest to make sure it is safe. Am I wrong?

So he is basically flat. That's good. If he will eat and you can stay up and monitor, you can shoot.
I will be around, don't worry. On my phone even if I am not at home. :bighug:

If you get a lower than usual PS number, you stall for 20 minutes without feeding and test again to see where the numbers are headed.

Okay, thank you. He actually ate a lot already, I will give him some more of the raw food he likes. Yes I can stay up and monitor but I don't like to lose too much sleep. I need to test again in an hour or two?

Okay so I was close. After his PSBG I usually want to feed him right away. And he ate. So I guess I wasn't stalling. I get mixed up easily.

So the second reading of 172 was after food? How long after?

DO you think you can manage both a +1 and a +2? If not, a +2 would be better. I would feed him again at +1 though - even if you don't test.

If he has eaten, don't fill him up too much right now. You want him hungry enough to eat later in the cycle, if needed to keep his numbers up.

Okay, first test was at 8:33. He ate right away.
Second test was at 8:56. I gave him the shot very soon after.

So you want me to feed him at 10 pm and retest at 11 pm. I can do that.

If I remember right, he only eats raw/cooked meat right? No MC/HC canned? Don't worry, just being prepared! :)

Feed him a little at +1 but don't fill him up. He might have to eat again after we test at +2 and later in the cycle.

Thanks Bhooma, I will feed him a little at +1.

Usually he eats raw, cooked, and a "treat" I make for him from beef liver/heart, chicken egg, and ground eggshells (calcium).

As far as options go, I have the following: 1) raw pork 2) cooked pork 3) orijen boar (pork) treats 4) pork baby food 5) Hound and Gato Pork (98% pork).

Honey, maple syrup. Last time I gave him honey he didn't like it much. I could easily mix it with the Hound and Gato Pork - he usually likes that food. I give it sometimes as a treat but I see he ate the raw sprinkled with orijen boar crumbs tonight for dinner.

It all depends upon what he will eat, it is different at different times. If I give him the baby food he might be real interested because he's never had it.

Fed about 9 pieces of pork at +1. Waiting for 11:00 test.

Forgot to tell you, we have two kinds of cooked pork. One is pork that I have canned (which is cooked). Also I can pan sear a little raw pork. He can hardly resist how good it smells.

Spoiled critter huh? I'm definitely his staff.

Hi again Bhooma, he tested +2 at 200! I guess that means feed him, then I get to go to sleep?

    Hi Jan

No major drop on onset. Looks good. Sorry for the delay in responding. Was on my way to the vet with Bandit.

No problem, I figured you were en route. Thanks so much for being there. When I am tired or stressed I don't always think clearly. After I've done this enough times it will be easier, but so far I see I am still getting stressed because I haven't caught on totally yet.

So I hope Bandit gets a good report from the vet and I wish you a good night. I will not test squeaky again until AMPS unless you write back otherwise.

    Cheers and many thanks.
