https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/11-12-cole-pmps-254-2-211-3-178.238464/ Happy Friday! Blue start to the day Cole got up on the bed early this morning to encourage me to get going on my responsibilities. He got up and waited nicely for his blood test and eye drops, and was hungry for breakfast. Now looking longingly at his food dish but I want to see his +2 without additional food this morning. Let's see where he is going to go today. Hope everyone has a good day!
Surf safely Colio - and if he's asking for food, he may be dropping. You can always grab another test to see (maybe a +1.5). I personally never withheld food after insulin unless it was a situation where I needed to make sure Jax was rising after a drop. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Thanks Susanne - I was worried I have been overfeeding him and Cole is a cat who always wants more to eat. I did test a little early and he is coming down, so he's happy eating now. Good point on only withholding when I'm trying to be sure he's rising after a drop. It's hard to keep everything straight!
It's definitely a balancing act with the food. I can't remember if I shared what I do but FWIW I take Jax's food for the cycle and give half at shot time then use the rest as snacks. When he was still getting regulated and I needed to feed the curve, I would two 1-2 teaspoons at a time as I wanted to make sure he'd eat if I needed him to eat MC or HC. Is Cole at a healthy weight? I weigh Jax every so often by just standing on my scale w/ and w/out him and then subtract the two; some people use a baby scale. Also, that link @Christie & Maverick posted yesterday was helpful for feeding - definitely a good place to start for food intake. You're doing great and Cole is looking wonderful these days
Max always got a food bump unless headed for a reduction. I had to feed the curve often so he ate at preshot, +2 if dropping or else +3 and I tried to stop food by +5 unless he was low. He was very carb sensitive. So basically when I fed him after preshot was dependent on his bg. Cole is looking really good!
Still dropping at +3 to 85 so fed him some more LC and we'll check again at +4. Hope we stay in this nice green today. Today AMPS 178 * fed LC breakfast * shot 1.75u cycle 5 +1 140 * no food +2 97 * 1.5 tbs LC food +3 85 * 1 tbs LC food +4 101 * no food
Up a bit at +4 to 101. No food and he's not looking for anything right now - just having a cozy nap in his bed.
Nice surfing today! Keep it going, Cole. I always try to feed Butters' curve. I do similar to what Elise did for Max in the early part of the cycle: feed at preshot, then at +2 if dropping or at +3 if not. However, I always give Butters a smaller amount of food in the later part of each cycle, at +9 or sometimes even +10, when exactly is somewhat dependent on her numbers. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Friday.
Thanks - that's very similar to what I did today - although he wanted to eat at +1 Today has gone pretty well - was green but stayed out of the bright green .. knock on wood ... and all with LC food which is a first.
Today AMPS 178 * fed LC breakfast * shot 1.75u cycle 5 +1 140 * no food +2 97 * 1.5 tbs LC food +3 85 * 1 tbs LC food +4 101 * no food +6 97 * no food * 9 128 * 1 tsp LC
It's great you have him surfing on LC only rather than having to prop him up with higher carb food. That's what you want. Looks like this is a good dose for him.
Starting the evening in blue but lower than the morning - PMPS 155. Let's see if we are headed back to green, furry bug Today AMPS 178 * fed LC breakfast * shot 1.75u cycle 5 +1 140 * no food +2 97 * 1.5 tbs LC food +3 85 * 1 tbs LC food +4 101 * no food +6 97 * no food * 9 128 * 1 tsp LC +10.5 no test * snack PMPS 155 * 1 tsp LC +1 131 * 1 tsp LC +2 106 * 1 tsp :C +3.5 97 * 1 tsp :C
