    Yesterday's Condo

    Good Morning everyone!

Luci is having a rough morning today - she's already puked and had a round of diarrhea - needless to say what I've been doing this morning...cleaning up the messes...cleaned out the LB and started all over with fresh litter...didn't seem to be any amount of scooping would clean up this week's messiness...so we started fresh, and of course the moment I was all done, Luci hopped in right...at least things are 'mooooving' for her.

I'm wondering if her not feeling well is attributing to this unusually high number, or if she went lower last night - although that nice blue at mid-night is unusual for her lately ... it could be either.

She did eat a little bit of her breakfast so let's hope she'll start to feel better soon! I hate to see her not feeling well...but I can tell...she just lays around...soooo tired....

I'll be following up with the vet on Tuesday to get a copy of her labs...and we'll go from there.

Have a good day everyone, I hope your kitties surf safely!

I hope Luci starts to feel better soon. :( I'm so sorry she is not feeling good. I'd say that high BG this morning is related to her feeling unwell.
Did you start the medication for her hyper-t yet?

It doesn't sound like she is feeling well. Something is brewing. This isn't like her. Hope you get labs back today.

It could be the thyroid med. Like I mentioned the other day, Marje warned me to start at half dose. Trip doesn't have diarrhea but is vomiting every other day. We are on hold now until tomorrow and then start again. Vet wants to do dose once a day and see how it goes. I think I will give 1/2 twice a day. That seemed to work if I remember correctly.

The labs came back late Thursday - the vet called to tell me they showed that she was hyperthyroid and called in a prescription for a gel - for application in her ear where there is no hair...so far that's easy enough since I already have her in position for testing, etc - twice a day she gets a little tiny bit ... I'm not sure how long it'll take to work...but hopefully not to long...

I'm going to call him to get a copy of the labs sent to me electronically for my records.

Goodness, I hope Luci feels better soon :bighug: Hang in there, Sue :bighug:

I know @OlivesMom uses holistic treatment for her civvie Cindy - here's the post where she mentions it. Just an alternative to consider incase Luci isn't agreeing with the gel.

Sending lots of healing to Luci :cat:

I'm so sorry to hear Luci was diagnosed Hyper T. We went the route with the pill but it made Cindy so sick we had to stop it. Because of our FD kitty, Olive, and our dog, we opted not to go the transdermal gel route and to try something holistic. We got her to a holistic vet who is working hand in hand with us now. I haven't read Luci's SS or gotten any background info on her so all I will mention here is what we've been doing to combat this. Cindy is scheduled for lab work on Wednesday to see if the holistic approach has had any affect, but if attitude and demeanor say anything, I'd have to say there's definitely been an improvement in her since we began the holistic approach almost 2 1/2 weeks ago. She went from screaming for hours through the night, every night, and running through the house in an absolute nervous frenzy to a cat that has only done that once since. She still throws up fur balls, but not on a daily basis like before. And we firmly believe the only reason she's not wanting to eat is due to her bad teeth (which we can't have the dental work done until the hyper-t is under control). She's been on an all raw diet (Primal turkey...and now some Darwin raw mixed in), Milk thistle daily, and on thyroid support Gold by the Petwellbeing company. Here's the link:https://petwellbeing.com/products/c... +cat&utm_content=Thyroid Support Gold - Cats
I hope that showed up. She's also on a daily probiotic and enzyme which I can tell you what kind that is if you'd like. If anything, just keep in mind there is another option and route you can take if you find Luci isn't doing so hot on the gel. As we've learned, you need to approach the Hyper T just as you would the FD and that's the whole body approach...getting their bodies into balance and healing them from the inside out, which takes time. And lots of patience! Hope this helps! :bighug:

Thank you for sharing this information...we're just getting started with the gel - and so far I'm seeing some interesting results - although with these cats it's hard to tell exactly what's cause and effect - yesterday Luci felt much better! She was playing and did a little bit of running around - but her BG numbers were all over the road...high and low! I've tried the Blood Sugar Gold Diabetes Support for Luci and it had no effect whatsoever - I gave up on that early on...I also tried CBD oil for her and again, no effect whatsoever...so we're going to try this gel - at least it's easy enough to apply - Luci is very cooperative during her test/feed/shot time and sits there and allows me to clean/apply the gel to the inside of her ear...I guess she's used to me fiddling with her ears :)

I hope the things you're trying are working for Olive! Best of luck at your next vet visit...we'll be going back early next month for her first follow up labs.
