1/2 OT: Fundraiser to help Chris’s Family

As some of you may know, Chris (Chris and China GA) suffered a horrific loss yesterday when her oldest son was killed in a tragic traffic accident. She has posted a fundraiser to help raise monies to bury her son.

She has given tirelessly and selflessly here, and many have been the recipients of her generous time and nature. We ask that you consider repaying this if you can with a small donation toward a cause no mother should ever have to deal with. She has been a part of and helped within this community +7 years. Now is our chance to help her family.

We also know that money is tight these days, so if a donation is not possible, please offer a prayer or good thought for Chris and her family at this incredibly difficult time. If you can spare anything at all, you can find the fundraiser on GoFundMe.

Chris, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I cannot even imagine what you are feeling and going through right now. However in trying to comfort I send loving thoughts and kindhearted wishes to you. When it is someone's time to go, they must go. Yet it was tragic and so sad. Life on this earth is tragic; everyone has to go. Wishing you comfort in many loving memories and from the kindness of family and friends. I was also able to donate (Canada) with no problem.

 

Adding this since you may be wondering - her son was hit by a drunk driver who refused the sobriety test at the scene. It was later found out that she has 30 violations - the last one for driving without insurance - so in this case there will be no insurance company to sue for damages and loss of life. It's a terrible burden to his family to have to deal with this horrible tragedy, not only emotionally but financially as well.

@Chris & China (GA) - know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time and I do hope our contributions will help with all of the expenses involved. Thinking of you and your family this evening.

Oh, this is just terrible. Poor Chris.

 

Omg my heart breaks for her- sending prayers to Chris and her family. I know she has helped me numerous times with Mimi..

 

Thank you all for your support. This is absolutely insane and I'm having a hard time accepting my oldest boy is gone.

He's finally back in town and the funeral home is going to try to make him look good enough for family to view but they're not 100% sure they can.

I only hope the woman that did this never has the chance to hurt another family like she has mine.

Nobody should bury a child.

I'm trying to keep busy, so you'll see me pop in now and then.

Just a quick update for my FDMB family. David's memorial service was Friday, Jan 8th. His 37th birthday would have been last Monday, Jan 11th. Tomorrow is my birthday, Jan 15th. This has been the worst week of my life but I truly appreciate the support I've gotten from people here and on the Facebook Feline Diabetes group.

My son didn't smile a lot, especially in pictures, but I wanted to share these with you all. When it came to his furbabies, he couldn't help himself.


I love the goofy look in this one. He didn't show his goofy side much, but when he did, it would light up the whole neighborhood.


The little bird is one of my favorites. David adored his Grandpa and the 2 of them were like peas in a pod. When David was young, his GP lived in a house with lots of big windows that hummingbirds were often crashing into. They'd fall to the ground and he'd pick them up in his huge hands very gently and let them warm up and recover. Then he'd open his hands and the bird would fly away. His grandchildren thought he was a miracle worker who could bring dead birds back to life. One day not too long ago, this little bird flew into David's garage and hit the wall in his panic. David remembered his GP's "gift" and tried it. As you can see, the little bird was grateful and flew away a few seconds later.


David was a tough guy and didn't like to show his soft side often, so pictures like this both make me smile and break my heart.
