    Hi
Duke was at 10.9 mmol/L (196 mg/dl) PMPS last night so i only dosed him 0.5U and this morning at his AMPS he was at 14.7 mmol/L (265 mg/dl) which i thought was quite good. When i gave him his injection this morning i didn't inject the full amount so i reinserted the needle straight away and completed his dose. Will this make any difference?
    I have checked him at AM +3 and he's down to 6.3 mmol/L (113 mg/dl)
Latest check AM +3.5 he's at 4.7 mmol/L (85 mg/dl) so i have just fed 1 tablespoon 24% hi carb food, will check again in 30 mins.

    Hi Tee,
Well done, you. That is a steep drop....
Let's see what the next test brings....

The steep drop aside, you are getting some lovely numbers... It's interesting to see these yellow preshots over the past few days, and an increasing number of lovely blues (and the first blue preshot last night...)

    He's now at 5.7 mmol/L (103 mg/dl) I will check again in 30 minutes.
Yes he was doing brilliant until last night when i dropped his dose to 0.5u because he fell below 11 mmol/L and gave him his normal dose this morning. Do you think that with me reinserting the needle and completing his dose caused this, it was all done within 10 seconds

He's back up to 9.5 mmol/L (171mg/dl). I probably fed him too much HC food in my panic.

These things can be hard to judge. But the numbers are still nice!
So much of this is 'trial and error', finding out what works in any given situation. Just make a note of exactly what you gave in the 'remarks' column. It's all part of the learning process. :bighug:

    Thanks,
I've done that Eliz, i fed him about 45 grams of the Gourmet gold chunks in gravy chicken and liver, so too much really, but when panic strikes you just want to see the numbers rise.

Thanks Janet, i think i will go back to a fat 1 and go again by building up slowly.
I have made two stupid stupid mistakes with Duke, firstly the dose last night which totally wrecked his numbers and then this morning with him dropping so fast because of last night. I'm just so angry with myself.

Actually I think the dose last night was just right, and he had a good number this morning. Insulin is not like a set it and forget it kind of thing. Maybe as he's getting into these better numbers his pancreas is healing a bit. Youre doing an awesome job and your cat is super lucky to have you.

Thanks Janet, i'm wondering if it was because i withdrew the needle before i injected the full dose, i realised straight away and re injected him the rest within 10 seconds, plus i checked for blood in the syringe on the first injection but not the second. Maybe i hit a vein.

On 4.5 years I've never hit a vein. Nor do I pull back to check. He's fine. You did everything right. Sometimes dosage needs change. That's why we test. :)

    I so hear you, Tee.
And, even though I've been doing this for 14 years, panic can still strike sometimes, even now, hehe! ...And I still sometimes 'over carb' my cat... ;):bighug:

Well one good thing that came out of this is that Duke loved his Gourmet gold chunks in gravy. Lol.

Well the day didn't finish too bad with his numbers, PMPS was 16.6 mmol/L (299 mg/dl).
Not as bad as i thought it would be.
