Hello. We've had it confirmed that Noodles has cushings. She'll be on a pill once daily called vetoryl. Does anyone have experience of either the condition or the medication?

Tagging @Ana & Frosty (GA) though she doesn't pop in much. You might want to PM her and see if she'll drop by. And try searching for some of her posts in this forum. Vetoryl helped Frosty quite a bit.

Here's an article telling a story about a cat going into remission with Vetoryl.

Are you home testing Noodles blood sugars? I strongly recommend it with Vetoryl in the picture. Her dose can change downward very quickly and you want to know when that is happening.

We haven't been getting on well with home testing, so the vet had said not to worry too much about it, but I'll speak to them about it. Even if we tested her, we wouldn't know what to give her, it's never really been explained. I'll have a look for the posts, it'd be helpful seeing any success stories as it's looking pretty grim for her :(

Here's a post for you: Hometesting Links and Tips . Another option for some people to start is the Freestyle Libre, which is attached to the cat and gives continuous reads.

The vet is wrong about not home testing. Beside the fact that cats often go higher at the vet clinic so it's not a great place to test what dose they should be getting, you will miss important information with just a periodic day of testing. I don't want to scare you, but we did have a person with a cat on Vetoryl whose cat went hypo and the change was almost overnight. The dose dropped dramatically.

Say for example that it was a higher reading than normal. How much insulin should she get? That was never made clear to us. She's on two units twice a day just now

Over on the Prozinc forum, we have some documented PROZINC DOSING METHODS that will guide you on how to change doses based on blood sugar readings.
