    Yesterday in Rubyworld. :cat:

Ruby’s eating went downhill yesterday after the morning and I had to give her anti-nausea meds in the evening to get her to eat. They finally kicked in around midnight last night and she finished her +2 meal then, three hours late. This morning she was hungry and finished her AMPS and +2 meals without fuss. :D

I’m glad I don’t have to worry about Ruby this morning because I’m on my way to get my first dose of the COVID vaccine! Wish me luck!

Healing thoughts for all of the sick kitties. Have a great start to the week everyone! :bighug:

Good luck! The first dose isn’t usually bad. I got the second dose Saturday afternoon and it’s kicking me hard.

I’m sorry to hear this, Elise. What are your symptoms? I have heard the second dose is a doozy.

I don’t want to scare you but I got hit pretty badly. Fever, chills, bad headache, achy arm, nausea, and stomach pains. My sister just got achy arm and headaches. I know others that just had the achy arm like my brother. After the first dose I just had a huge red mark that got itchy fir a few days and lasted for weeks. I was warned not to eat much so I wouldn’t vomit so all I had was yogurt. Don’t eat a big meal that day or night.

I’m so sorry that you’re feeling so poorly. Everyone seems to react differently. I hope you get over it soon. Big hugs to you.

YAY for Ruby eating!! So glad she stepped up so you could leave with peace of mind. Do you mind me asking what meds seemed to work?

We got the first dose a few weeks ago - achy arm, DH complained loudly but for me it was just sore, like after the flu shot. I had some body aches/fatigue but I have a chronic illness and disability so I wasn't certain it was from the vaccine. My close friend was super fatigued for like two weeks, but my mom - with cancer and a whole bunch of other stuff - felt fine after, go figure! But a response means you're body is taking it and creating antibodies! Elise - sending healing vibes and big hugs that you have a full and complete recovery! :bighug:

For us it is way better than potential long term consequences of COVID, especially the unknown! We were really excited after. Congratulations!!

Ruby looks awesome, and Congrats on that first shot for today!

I pray Elise feels better soon; my experience was similar, but less rotten - I had no stomach issues or fever. Just headache, muscle pain and chills all the first night afterward, then icky the next day. And my arm muscle hurt like crazy; that's what woke me up to the other symptoms the first night.

I have read and also experienced in our family (in-laws, parents, medical people, chronic illness/me), that the second Moderna dose is harder on people, than the second Pfizer dose. I've also read and seen, that older seniors have fewer effects than younger people.

    Be well you two!

I gave Ruby 4 mg of Cerenia and 2 mg Ondansetron. She just refused her +6 meal, so I may have to give her more meds later. My poor girl. The vet isn't in again until Wednesday so am still waiting on the US report.

So far I have an achy arm and am feeling a little lightheaded but otherwise ok. Another friend who is a teacher and close in age to me has been sick with fever for 5 days after her second dose. It seems to be a bit of a roll of the dice. But I am so elated to have it. :joyful: Cannot wait to have my life back!

Oh poor Ruby. Miss Thang needs to eat her fuds! Such pretty BG numbers, though. Mixed bag :bighug:

Yes I feel that! We are talking about going out to eat in an outdoor bubble tent thingy in late March. two weeks after our second dose! We have not been to a restaurant in almost a year. I cannot wait to HUG people and see people. I haven't seen any friends or family since it was warm enough to hang socially distanced outside. So much hope! I hope they last for a year, since most folks should be able to get both doses by Summer.

Then we have to have a hang! I'm right in Essex County - not far from you in Hoboken at all :)

OMG, the concept of HUGS! I have stolen one here and there in the last year, but not without feeling some anxiety about it. I have also eaten outside in 30 degree weather because otherwise I would never see anyone but the cats and Frank and though I love them all from the bottom of my heart, I have missed my friends so much. We have to get together when we're all vaccined up!:bighug:

Hi Katherine, I'm so glad Ruby is responding to the Cerenia + Ondansetron combo. She may be one of those kitties who need it daily, maybe you are doing this I am a little out of the loop today! Pearl goes through spurts of needing it for weeks at a time, then ok. Then back needing it, then ok.

HOw are you feeling after vaccine?

Ruby's SS looks lovely today! :bighug:

Hey Margaret, it seems Ruby’s need for the anti-emetics comes in waves. Sometimes she needs it two days in a row and sometimes I can skip a few days. I haven’t given her an appy stim in 6 days. Wish I knew better what is causing the eating issues but I need to be patient.

As for me, I’m feeling pretty zapped of energy and my arm hurts. Hoping it’s temporary.

How many times a day are you giving the ondansetron? It only lasts a few hours, so you may need to increase it to 2/day in order to help prevent the nausea. I really hope she gets through this bump. Once we started treatment with Fortune when he was dx with SCL, he was eating much better.

Don't do any bicep curls, and you should be ok! Did they tell you if you could take Tylenol or Advil? That also helped. But hey, it's better than COVID! Feel better soon. :bighug:

You can give ondansetron every eight hours if needed. I hope Ruby feels better soon.

PMPS = 80. Ruby isn't eating her evening meal. After giving her some SEB, I gave her another round of Cerenia and Ondansetron. I keep hoping that she will come around to eating unaided but I am being thwarted. If she's not eating, it also means she is not drinking, so that isn't good on any level.

Oh no, Ruby! Like Lyla said, you can try every 8 hours or 3x/day to see if it helps. :bighug:

+2 = 92. The number bump must be from the pill pocket and SEB because Ruby didn't eat anything until just a few minutes ago.

Could Ruby's inappetence have something to do with being fed a combination of cooked and raw? Could the raw be filling her up more and so she doesn't want to eat as much?

Hi Katherine, I hope you start feeling better after getting the shot.
Ruby looks great, I hope the ultrasound sheds some light as to why she's not eating at times ♥:bighug::bighug:
