Hi. My Raymond James is still high after 14 weeks after being diagnosed. Starting third vile of Prozinc. No matter what I feed him or how many units I increase, no improvement. Current units are 5.5 twice a day. Question: should I go back to Lantus? Raymond James was on Lantus for three weeks until the vet sold me Prozinc, which isn't doing much . Thanks...

Some tests in the PM cycle would be helpful.

Right now, we can't tell if Raymond James is dropping lower at night and bouncing in the morning. Or if the numbers always stay high, in both dosing cycles.

Lantus is a good insulin. Some cats do better on one insulin versus another. It's up to you if you decide to switch back.

Thanks Deb. Do you know how many units I should start Lantus? I'm not home too much to test more.
Raymond James is always consistent, high.

It's possible he has a high dose condition. Usually when a cat get ups around 5-6 units, it's time to get your cat tested for acromegaly and IAA.

The folks over in the Lantus forum could guide you better on what dose of lantus to start on. It's usually around the same dose as the previous insulin.

Since you are feeding dry food, you would only be able to use the SLGS dosing method.
Please check out the sticky posts at the top of the lantus/basaglar/levemir ISG for lots of helpful information on using those insulins.

Thanks, your so informative. Guess I'll stick with what I'm doing.
Have 220ml of lantus, hate to waste.
