@Deb & Wink What are your thoughts?? Do you know if a cat may have more of a success rate, of their cat going into remission using Lantus verses Prozinc?? My vet said that my cat has a better chance of getting into remission if i switched..My cat has been on prozinc since november of 2020.

I'm just a little hesitant to switching.. logan has generally been at .5 and .5F ..but much lower than .5 he starts to run high.. it is what it is.. oh well.

You might want to post the question on the Lantus forum as well. We have people there who've made the switch and can tell you their experiences.

I'm a little worried you didn't reduce when you saw that 46 on 8/27. Especially since we don't know how low he's running most nights. And he recently saw the 30's at 0.5F.

@Wendy&Neko thanks Wendy. I did post on Lantus too. Logan is extremely sensative to reductions and raises. I may start to test him during the middle of the nite again.. just to see. I literally go from .5 to a hair above it where you can barely see a hair of light and call that .5F.. its so hard .. but he is at least lower than .75 S ..

We switched from Prozinc to Lantus just over a month ago and our experience is that George has been doing much better on Lantus.

If you take a look at George’s spreadsheet, he was getting into the greens almost every day on Lantus when I was following MPM dosing, but he was bouncing a lot. Once I switched to Prozinc his numbers have been much more consistent and he’s been able to be mostly in the blues and greens with a lot less bouncing now that he’s been on it for about a month and a half. We’re on vacation now so he’s on a reduced dose, but I have the switch’s labeled on my spreadsheet. It just took him a couple of weeks to kind of settle into the Lantus.

** thanks Hshray.. I did look at George's SS.. I'm not sure at this pt.. My cat Logan continues to stay at around at .5 of a unit.. am going to have to weigh the costs too. but i would love for my cat to go into Remission...

I personally wish I had made the switch sooner. It took up to 3.5 units on Prozinc to finally break through with George and now he’s down to 0.75 on Lantus and has been earning reductions every three days before we had to go out of town. I totally understand wanting to weigh it all though…Lantus is the third insulin we’ve tried.
