This is great! You are really starting to see some better numbers.

I was wondering if its okay to perhaps slightly stray from the SLGS guidelines and maybe do increases a little more frequently based on what the numbers are saying and my comfort level. So maybe since I'm going to be home the next two days to monitor maybe I can give her an increase tomorrow even though today is only her 5th day on the current dose. So I'm thinking I want to move a bit more quickly but not quite as quickly as TR. Would this be okay or is it not advisable?

FWIW you could switch between the SLGS and TR depending on your schedule, versus a custom dosing. If you do custom dosing, you'll want to make sure you mark your signature and spreadsheet to be clear on your own guidelines - from what I've seen and experienced, it's hard for others to advise those that do custom dosing since it's not an approach one can look up the guidelines to. I know some people change the reduction point for SLGS (Carla @carfurby is always one that comes to mind. Perhaps @Wendy&Neko or @Bandit's Mom can help advise on your proposal to modify SLGS for Kitty.

Can you remind me why you are following SLGS instead of TR? You test enough for TR and are no longer feeding dry, but maybe there is some other reason you don't want to follow it? IfI understand your situation a bit better maybe I can comment on why/how you would make changes to the dosing method.

You've also only been on glargine for two weeks so don't have much experience with Kitty's way of using glargine, and neither does she yet. It can take a cat's body a little while how to learn to work with the new hormone (insulin)/ We usually say that you don't change SLGS until you know the basics, such as her onset, nadir, duration, and carb sensitivity/reaction to different carb levels at different times of the cycle.

Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't receive a notification/email that you replied.

I started with SLGS because she was still eating some dry food when I switched her to glargine.

My only apprehension with TR is that when I look at other spreadsheets of people who are following TR, it seems like every one of them is testing more throughout both cycles. With AM cycles, on work days I can only test one time at about mid-cycle, I know you and Melissa (@FrostD) have both said that that's enough, but I'm worried that once she gets into low numbers, I might miss a light green number and therefore miss a reduction. Couldn't this put Kitty at risk?

Are you saying I should wait? Above it kind of sounded like you were saying I should follow TR if there isn't a specific reason for following SLGS.
