    Happy Thursday!

Mo is doing pretty well the past couple weeks. He is keeping me on my toes for sure. Mi goes every where with me when I do not sleep at home. His new love it sticking his head out the window like a dog when I drive!!! He will be a dog in his second life for sure.

With the help of the facebook group, it was recommended I try differemt flavors every 3 days to see which ones effect his sugar. He is tolerating all the food trials the best he can.I did hit a bump in the road because the turkey and seafood seem to agree with him, but him and his sisters are becoming sick of. I am now trying beef, but it seems to have him a little bit higher. Chicken seemed to really spike so I didn't keep trying it. I did not finish a whole 3 days.

I did try tiki and weruva, but not one of my cats will even lick it!! My wallet is dieing with all this food I am trying.... I have determined that he will only eat friskies and there aren't many options with chicken out of the mix. He will not touch the salmon or mariners catch, although, he eats the other seafood mix. I have been putting the flavors I feed him each day in the notes.

I just increased his dose from .1 to .25 on April 23rd to see if this helps his preshot numbers get in the green zone. He has dropped to 50's which means dose decrease, but I made the call not to do that with his preshot numbers.

I didn't get to update my signature, but I know you shouldn't shoot 90 and below for the method I am using, but I modified it to 80.

I have some questions that may help me calm down and feel like I have more control of all of this. I just believe he is so close to remission.... I should also mentioned last month the vet told me he was in remission with the numbers I presented to her, but per this group, I did not take her advice.

    Questions:
    1. Should I continue to try the chicken for longer periods? ( he does like it and it gives more options) If I do, how many days should I trial?

    2. Do you think the beef is okay to keep giving with the numbers I have been getting the past 2.5 days?

    3. Was the dose increase appropriate?

    4. Although I have read every document here, I still am confused about when you decrease or increase overall?

    5. Should I be doing something different that I haven't done?

    I appreciate all of you!!!!

Hi Cait, I'm not that comfortable giving dosing advice that's why I tagged the other members for you. What does the DD stand for in some of you unit columns
Have you tried feeding him Fancy Feast Classic Pates, see if he likes them
Meantime here is what it says when you follow SLGS
Hold the dose for at least a week:
    • Unless your cat won’t eat or you suspect hypoglycemia
    • Unless your kitty falls below 90 mg/dL (5 mmol/L). If kitty falls below 90 mg/dL (5 mmol/L) decrease the dose by 0.25 unit immediately.
After 1 week at a given dose perform a 12 hour curve, testing every 2 hours OR perform an 18 hour curve, testing every 3 hours. Note: Random spot checks are often helpful to "fill in the blanks" on kitty's spreadsheet. The goal is to learn how low the current dose is dropping kitty prior to making dose adjustments.
    • If nadirs are more than 150 mg/dl (8.3 mmol/L), increase the dose by 0.25 unit
    • If nadirs are between 90 (5 mmol/L) and 149 mg/dl (8.2 mmol/L), maintain the same dose
    • If nadirs are below 90 mg/dl (5mmol/L), decrease the dose by 0.25 unit
As your cat's blood glucose begins to fall mostly in the desired range [lowest point of the curve approaching 100 mg/dl (5.5 mmol/L) and pre-shot value around or below 300 mg/dl (16.6 mmol/L)], do lengthen the waiting time between dose increases. If you decide to change another factor (e.g., diet or other medications), don't increase the insulin dose until the other change is complete (but decrease the dose if your cat's glucose numbers consistently fall below 90 mg/dl (5.0 mmol/L) as a result of the change).

It's "Drop Dose" but she was still getting PS (especially at PMPS) that were above normal which is why she was advised to try 0.1.

Same problem on 0.1 and now 0.25.....she tried N.S. for several cycles and ended up with more blue than green.

Her cat is not reading the manual!
