    Hi friends!

We accidentally gave our beloved Buddy two shots this morning (3.25 units prozinc).

Looking for any advice on how to manage this. We are stocked with test strips. Should we start feeding high carb right away to prevent a dangerous drop?

Are you testing him to see what's happening with his BG? How close is the nearest emergency vet or your regular vet. He may need to be put on a glucose drip via IV.

I only just saw this message. I hope you've been giving him HC and possibly karo if needed.

We are testing every half hour and feeding high carb. We have honey ready in case we need it and will be here all day to test, so we will start to test more frequently if her numbers go lower.

Emerg vet is probably 15 mins away, but definitely hoping we can keep things under control at home by being proactive! Time will tell!!

So what is her regular dose and how much did she receive this morning?

There appears to be no current spreadsheet so I cannot tell anything.

You probably already know this, but don't feed too much all at once because you don't want to fill her up. So just a teaspoon each time of the highest carbs that you have. If she stops eating because she is full, then you will have to move to karo/honey. You must keep testing until a full two hours after the last high carb food or honey/karo syrup are given to ensure that she does not drop back down. This is after she starts to head back up on her own, of course. This will take a long time.

Thanks all. Sorry for the late reply, our internet hasn’t been great today.

Her current dose is 3.25 units, which she got twice this morning.

Thankfully eating is her fav thing, so we’ve managed to keep her levels up just with high carb food. She is at +5.5 from her second shot and +7 from her first shot, and she is up, never having gone very low in the first place, so I think we are in the clear. We are going to keep testing every hour though, just in case.

Thanks for letting me know she's okay. I was concerned. I was just in the grocery store and was thinking about your Buddy and wondering how she was. I'm very happy to come home and see this message although it was a few hours ago. :)
