Phoebe and the gang are all now on low carb moist. All high carbs are gone (farmina/ party mix) only dry is YA mature. I sprinkle the fortiflora on it for enticing. Phoebe and Jack is raw rabbit in am with some freeze dried rabbit on the side. Snickers, Momma Kitty and Tigger get Friskies moist shared between them twice a day. Jack and Phoebe evening is FF beef, and different beef's, some turkey, salmon. Slowly introducing salmon FF appetizer- once a day for all as a treat--watching Jack for allergy. Phoebe's numbers steady in the mid 200's to high 200's. Time, patience, and monitoring. If she has to back to insulin---SLGS is the choice on Lantus. I just have to remember where I was able to get it last time. :banghead: My pharmacy states if I didn't buy in the last 15 months, she drops off the system. So if anyone has thoughts on where to get it--let me know.--thankyou in advance.

The sooner you get her bank on insulin and her BG regulated, the better her chances of going into remission again.

Will your vet not prescribe insulin? You might want to get her teeth checked. Dental issues are one of the main reasons for cats falling out of remission.

I have an appointment this Wednesday 8am. When I called last week -She wouldn't renew the script till she see's her. I am sure she will order it, glargine. If I have to go to my pharmacy and pay more I will. She wants to do labs beforehand. But I am assuming knowing Phoebe is a Diabetic already, she will prescribe the same day. I am just afraid she will dose her too high. At this point without any other issues where would you expect her to start on her insulin? I will have her teeth checked also

All you need from the vet is a script for Insulin Glargine. You might find it cheaper to buy it at a pharmacy. @cecile & bella had posted about buying a Lantus pen a few months back from CVS at $20-21.

It's a good idea to do the labs and get Phoebe's teeth checked to see if there is anything that caused her to fall out of remission. Treating that will help get her BG regulated and paws crossed, into remission again.

We can help you with dosing once you get the insulin. What is her weight?

Hi Eva! Yes, I bought Lantus from CVS a few times for $21. It dropped a lot last year, before that I paid over $100 for one pen. But yes, you need a prescription. I am sure if you see your vet on Wednesday and she writes it, you can get it the same day from the pharmacy.

I have sent my Vet an email asking for an earlier day- I will also call them when they open their doors on Monday to see if I can get in. I have called the pharmacies in my area. I found one that will sell only one pen and has them on hand. THey won't give a price until I come in with script. silly. I have all hc food out of the house. The gang all are not real happy. But I do want Phoebe back OTJ and little chance of the others developing it. She knows she has to get her bs before she eats and jumps up to the area I test.

Her weight is 10.2 pounds, today.
